Responsibilities

About the Role

Akila Global Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Lifting Supervisor to support our ongoing engineering, maintenance, lifting, and project works in Singapore.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising lifting operations, coordinating lifting activities, ensuring proper use of lifting equipment and accessories, implementing approved lifting plans, and maintaining safe working environment.

The candidate should be able to work closely with lifting engineers, crane operators, riggers, signalmen, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and other site personnel to ensure lifting operations are carried out safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate lifting and rigging operations at project and customer sites.
• Ensure lifting activities are carried out in accordance with approved lifting plans, method statements, risk assessments, and safe work procedures.
• Brief riggers, signalmen, crane operators, and other workers on lifting requirements before work starts.
• Ensure suitable cranes, lifting equipment, and lifting accessories are selected and used correctly.
• Check lifting gear, slings, shackles, hooks, spreader beams, and other lifting accessories before use.
• Ensure loads are properly secured, balanced, and within the safe working load limits.
• Coordinate with crane operators and Riggers & Signalmen during lifting, lowering, moving, and positioning of loads.
• Establish and maintain appropriate lifting zones and exclusion areas.
• Monitor lifting operations and stop work immediately if unsafe conditions or practices are identified.
• Ensure lifting operations are carried out according to approved procedures and site requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and clients on lifting activities.
• Conduct toolbox meetings and lifting briefings where required.
• Ensure all workers involved in lifting operations understand their roles and responsibilities.
• Maintain proper records and documentation related to lifting activities.
• Report lifting incidents, near misses, equipment defects, and unsafe conditions promptly.
• Ensure good housekeeping around lifting and work areas.
• Carry out other lifting-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education

• Nitec / Higher Nitec / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Construction, or a related field will be an advantage.
• Relevant technical or vocational qualifications will be considered.
• Candidates with strong relevant lifting experience and valid certifications may also be considered.

Skills & Other Requirements

• Must possess a valid Lifting Supervisor certification recognized in Singapore.
• Good knowledge of lifting operations, rigging practices, crane operations, and lifting equipment.
• Able to understand and implement lifting plans, method statements, risk assessments, and safe work procedures.
• Good understanding of crane capacities, lifting accessories, load weights, and safe lifting practices.
• Able to supervise and coordinate Riggers, Signalmen, and crane operators effectively.
• Strong knowledge of workplace safety requirements.
• Good communication, leadership, and coordination skills.
• Able to identify lifting hazards and take appropriate corrective action.
• Able to work independently and make appropriate decisions during site operations.
• Physically fit and comfortable working in industrial environments.
• Willing to work at different customer/project sites across Singapore.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.

Preferred Experience

• 3–5 years or more of relevant experience in lifting operations, preferably as a Lifting Supervisor or in a senior rigging/lifting role.
• Hands‑on experience supervising crane lifting, rigging, and signaling operations.
• Experience with mobile cranes, tower cranes, crawler cranes, overhead cranes, or other lifting equipment will be an advantage.
• Experience handling heavy machinery, equipment, piping, structural steel, vessels, or other industrial materials.
• Experience in process plants, oil & gas, petrochemical, marine, construction, or industrial engineering projects will be preferred.
• Experience working with approved lifting plans and coordinating with lifting engineers and site management.
• Experience in shutdown, turnaround, maintenance, or major project works will be an advantage.
• Experience supervising multiple lifting teams and coordinating complex lifting activities will be preferred.

Certifications

Candidates should possess relevant and valid Singapore‑recognized certifications, including:

• Lifting Supervisor Certificate
• Relevant Rigger & Signalman knowledge/certification will be an advantage.
• Relevant WSH and lifting‑related safety certifications.
• Other relevant technical certifications will be an advantage.
