Job summary

INTERNATIONAL WORKPLACE CONSULTING PTE. LTD. is seeking a hands-on Moulding Supervisor to lead a skilled team in Guangdong, China. You will manage mould fitting, CNC, EDM and Wire EDM operations, supervise new mould manufacture and repair, and drive quality and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in plastic injection moulding, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Strong English and local language communication is required. Immediate joiner is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct mould fitting/bench-fitting team; oversee new mould assembly, fitting, trial matching, final assembly and repair.
• Review mould designs; advise on feasibility, workholding, tool paths and assembly ease.
• Plan and update integrated machining and mould-fitting schedules; allocate equipment and manpower.
• Establish inspection checkpoints; monitor dimensions, surface finish and clearance; address root causes.
• Oversee CNC/EDM programming strategies and maintain tool libraries and parameter databases.

Position: Mould Supervisor

1. Position Overview

Responsible for the overall management of the mould workshop, including machining processes such as CNC, EDM and Wire EDM, as well as the mould fitting/bench-fitting team. Oversee the complete process of new mould manufacturing and existing mould repair.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in various machining processes and mould fitting/assembly techniques, together with a deep passion for understanding machine capabilities and continuously improving production efficiency and quality.

2. Key Responsibilities

1. Mould Fitting Team ManagementDirectly manage the mould fitting/bench-fitting team.Oversee new mould assembly, mould fitting, trial matching, final assembly and mould repair.Ensure quality of critical processes including mould matching, polishing and hot runner installation.Conduct regular technical and skills training for the team.
2. Process Review & Early-stage Technical InvolvementParticipate in mould design reviews.Provide recommendations on machining feasibility, workholding/fixturing methods, tool paths and ease of mould fitting/assembly.Identify potential machining difficulties at an early stage and develop preventive solutions.
3. Production Planning & SchedulingDevelop and continuously update integrated machining and mould-fitting schedules.Allocate equipment and manpower efficiently to ensure timely movement of components through each process.Closely monitor critical production milestones and delivery schedules.
4. Quality ControlEstablish inspection checkpoints throughout the machining and assembly processes.Monitor critical parameters such as dimensions, surface finish and mould shut-off/parting-line clearances.Quickly analyse quality issues, determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
5. Equipment Expertise & Workshop ManagementDemonstrate a strong interest in understanding and optimising CNC, EDM and Wire EDM equipment.Continuously explore machine capabilities and optimise operating parameters.Oversee equipment maintenance and preventive servicing.Be hands-on at the shop floor, closely monitoring machine performance and identifying opportunities to improve parameters and processes.
6. Technical Problem SolvingLead the resolution of complex machining challenges, such as deep-cavity deformation, precision electrode machining and difficult mould repair issues.Introduce new machining processes, technologies and cutting tools to strengthen the workshop's overall technical capabilities.
7. Efficiency & Cost ControlShorten mould manufacturing lead times through optimisation of tool paths, workholding methods and standardised operating procedures.Control consumption of cutting tools, electrodes and other materials to effectively manage mould manufacturing costs.
8. Programming & Technical Data ManagementOversee CNC/EDM programming strategies.Establish and maintain standardised tool libraries and machining parameter databases.Document representative technical cases and lessons learned to build internal technical knowledge and best practices.

3. Requirements

• Experience: Diploma or above, with 8+ years of plastic injection mould manufacturing experience, including at least 3 years in a Mould Supervisor/Manager role.
• Strong dual background in mould fitting/bench fitting and machining, with comprehensive knowledge of mould assembly, fitting and repair processes.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in mould fitting and machining processes including CNC, EDM, Wire EDM, grinding and milling.
• Familiar with the machining characteristics of mould steels such as S136 and NAK80.
• Able to read and interpret mould drawings proficiently.
• Familiar with programming software such as UG/NX and PowerMill.
• Management: Strong ability to coordinate multi-process production schedules, allocate manpower and motivate teams.
• Core Competencies: Passionate about machining equipment and technical problem-solving, with a strong desire to explore optimal machining parameters and push machining capabilities. Hands-on, meticulous and practical, with a willingness to work closely on the shop floor. Demonstrates strong ownership and accountability for quality, productivity and delivery schedules.
