Job summary

VDL ETG Singapore seeks a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to spearhead mechanical development across complex systems for semiconductor and high-tech equipment. You will own the mechanical engineering aspects from requirements analysis and concept development through detailed design, verification, industrialization and product release, collaborating with in-house manufacturing, assembly teams and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor's or Master's).
• Approximately 10 years of mechanical design and development experience.
• Experience with vacuum technology, high-cleanliness requirements, precision assemblies.
• Strong hands-on engineering, manufacturing and product realization mindset.
• Familiarity with DFx principles (Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Serviceability, Reliability, Cost).

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of mechanical design and provide technical leadership to engineers within project teams.
• Translate requirements into mechanical specifications and design requirements.
• Lead concept development and evaluate alternative design solutions.
• Make engineering decisions considering performance, reliability, manufacturability, cleanliness, cost and lead time.
• Apply principles of precision mechanics, dynamics, thermal effects and material selection.
• Develop and review 3D models, drawings and technical documentation.
• Lead and participate in design reviews and evaluations.
• Support prototype integration, testing, validation and qualification.
• Mentor and grow the mechanical engineering team and contribute to engineering standards.
