The A*STAR SIMTech Additive Innovation Centre (AIC) invites applications for a Research Scientist to advance metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM). The role involves leading applied research with NAMIC partners to deliver industry-ready solutions across aerospace, semiconductor, and biomedical sectors.

We seek a PhD-qualified scientist with a strong AM track record, capable of independent work and collaborative leadership, and proficient in DOE,

Qualifications

  • PhD in a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated AM research track record (publications, patents, or tech development).
  • Strong LPBF expertise with metallurgy and materials characterisation.
  • Experience leading externally funded or industry-collaborative projects.
  • Excellent scientific writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research programmes in metal LPBF and materials engineering.
  • Develop processing strategies for alloys and additive manufacturing.
  • Plan and conduct DOE studies and data-driven investigations.
  • Characterise microstructure and mechanical properties; relate to process.
  • Lead industry-funded R&D projects from concept to deployment.
  • Translate industrial requirements into manufacturable AM solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accelerate translation.
