Job summary
The A*STAR SIMTech Additive Innovation Centre (AIC) invites applications for a Research Scientist to advance metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM). The role involves leading applied research with NAMIC partners to deliver industry-ready solutions across aerospace, semiconductor, and biomedical sectors.
We seek a PhD-qualified scientist with a strong AM track record, capable of independent work and collaborative leadership, and proficient in DOE,
Qualifications
- PhD in a related discipline.
- Demonstrated AM research track record (publications, patents, or tech development).
- Strong LPBF expertise with metallurgy and materials characterisation.
- Experience leading externally funded or industry-collaborative projects.
- Excellent scientific writing and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead research programmes in metal LPBF and materials engineering.
- Develop processing strategies for alloys and additive manufacturing.
- Plan and conduct DOE studies and data-driven investigations.
- Characterise microstructure and mechanical properties; relate to process.
- Lead industry-funded R&D projects from concept to deployment.
- Translate industrial requirements into manufacturable AM solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accelerate translation.
