Job summary

Kongsberg Maritime is seeking a Lead Instrument Engineer to lead the Instrumentation & Control discipline on offshore projects in Singapore. You will manage design, interfaces, and vendor collaboration, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions across FEED, detail design and execution phases.

You will mentor engineers, support HAZOP/SIL/FAT/SAT, and ensure compliance with client and regulatory standards. A strong offshore background and Kongsberg ICSS familiarity are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of instrumentation & control engineering experience in offshore Oil & Gas, FPSOs, floating production facilities, offshore platforms, and brownfield projects.
  • Demonstrated experience as package lead on large EPC/EPCI projects with knowledge of IEC/API/ISO/NORSOK standards.
  • Strong experience across FEED, detailed design and project execution phases.
  • Proven track record in managing complex multidisciplinary technical challenges.
  • Prior experience on Kongsberg Maritime ICSS system is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the instrument engineering discipline for assigned projects.

  • Monitor progress, identify risks and implement mitigations.
  • Lead design, specification and implementation of instrumentation & control systems.
  • Ensure designs comply with project specs, international standards and client requirements.
  • Support HAZOP, SIL, FAT, SAT, commissioning and startup activities.
  • Coordinate with ICSS teams and vendors for successful project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and designers.

Job description

The Lead Instrument Engineer is responsible for leading the Instrumentation & Control discipline on assigned projects, ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions. The role manages discipline engineering activities, coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, and serves as the primary focal point for instrumentation-related matters during project execution.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the instrument engineering discipline for assigned projects.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise instrumentation engineering activities to meet project scope, schedule, budget, and QHSE requirements.
  • Manage discipline interfaces across disciplines and third-party vendors / partners
  • Monitor engineering progress and identify risks, issues, and mitigation measures.
  • Project Execution
    • Lead the design, specification, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems
    • Responsible for discipline deliverables, including cable block diagrams, termination and loop diagrams, control and safety philosophies, instrument indexes, I/O lists, loop drawings, cause & effect charts, detector layouts and control room layouts.
    • Ensure designs comply with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.
    • Support HAZOP, SIL, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and startup activities.
    • Ensure compliance with project, client, regulatory, and classification society requirements
    • Close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, especially ICSS team to ensure successful execution of projects
  • Act as the focal point for instrumentation matters with clients, vendors, and third parties.
  • Lead technical bid evaluations and vendor document reviews.
  • Resolve technical queries and coordinate package integration activities.
  • Capability Development
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and designers.
  • Support competency development and promote engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the discipline.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of instrumentation & control engineering experience in offshore Oil & Gas, FPSOs, floating production facilities, offshore platforms, and brownfield projects.
  • Demonstrated experience as package lead on large EPC/EPCI projects, with good working knowledge of relevant industry standards (like IEC / API / ISO / NORSOK), class and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong experience across FEED, detailed design and project execution phases.
  • Proven track record in managing complex multidisciplinary technical challenges.
  • Prior experience on Kongsberg Maritime ICSS system will have an added advantage
