Job summary

Studioshen in Singapore is seeking an experienced Architect to join our team and take a leadership role in design and delivery.

You will own projects from design through construction, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients and consultants to ensure design intent and regulatory compliance.

This role emphasizes climate-responsive, practical architecture with a careful balance between aesthetics, budget and constructability.

Qualifications

• A recognised degree in Architecture.
• Approximately 4-8 years of relevant professional experience, preferably with Singapore project experience.
• Strong knowledge of Singapore authority requirements and submission processes.
• Experience leading architectural projects through multiple stages.
• Strong design and technical abilities.
• Experience coordinating consultants and contractors.
• Confidence in managing and presenting to clients.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior architects.
• Good judgement, initiative and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from concept design through design development, documentation and construction.
• Develop thoughtful architectural solutions in response to the site, client brief, regulatory requirements, budget and construction constraints.
• Critically review design options and guide junior team members in developing stronger solutions.
• Maintain a high standard of design, detailing and documentation.
• Take ownership of project programmes, deliverables and key milestones.
• Lead and coordinate internal project teams.
• Coordinate effectively with structural, M&E and other specialist consultants.
• Identify problems early and drive them towards resolution.
• Conduct site inspections and resolve construction and detailing issues.
• Build strong and trusted relationships with clients.
• Understand the client's objectives beyond the immediate architectural brief.
• Present design proposals clearly and confidently.
• Advise clients on architectural, regulatory, technical and practical considerations.
• Manage expectations and guide clients through the design and construction process.
• Have a strong working knowledge of Singapore planning and building regulations.
• Coordinate and manage submissions to relevant authorities.
• Understand regulatory requirements and incorporate them into the design process from an early stage.
• Review drawings and documentation for accuracy, coordination and completeness.
• Work closely with contractors during construction to maintain design intent and resolve site issues.
• Mentor Architectural Associates and Assistants.
• Review work and provide clear, constructive guidance.
• Share technical and project knowledge across the studio.
• Contribute to the development of Studioshen's internal standards, SOPs, training materials and design knowledge.
