Job summary

SMC Food 21 Pte Ltd in Singapore seeks a dedicated laboratory technician to conduct routine and non-routine testing on materials and products, ensuring compliance with GMP/GLP and safety standards.

You will prepare specimens, maintain records, monitor QC and calibration, and participate in ISO/IEC 17025 training, with alternate Saturday shifts (8am–12pm).

Qualifications

• ITE Diploma / Nitec / Higher Nitec in Chemistry or related discipline.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing and documentation.
• Able to follow SOPs and testing methods precisely.
• Report out-of-spec or unusual results promptly to supervisor.
• Monitor consumables and inform when replenishment is needed.
• Comply with food safety, quality, safety, hygiene and regulatory requirements.
• Available for alternate Saturday shifts (8am–12pm).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-routine microbiological, chemical, and physical tests on materials, in-process samples, and environmental samples.
• Prepare samples, culture media, reagents, and laboratory materials for testing.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare test reports for submitted samples.
• Follow QC procedures, calibration, verification, and maintenance of instruments.
• Identify and report issues that may affect test performance or results.
• Participate in training including ISO/IEC 17025 to ensure compliance.
• Manage the sample retention room with proper ID, storage, and disposal.
• Keep lab areas, equipment, and workspaces clean, safe, and organized.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-routine microbiological, chemical, and physical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, finished product, water and environmental samples accurately, safely, and within the required turnaround time, in accordance with applicable GMP, GLP, and laboratory safety requirements
• Prepare samples, culture media, reagents, solutions, and laboratory materials required for testing
• Maintain accurate laboratory records for all submitted samples, including compilation, analysis, evaluation, and preparation of test reports
• Follow laboratory quality control procedures, policies, and documentation requirements, including instrument calibration, procedural calibration, verification, and maintenance activities
• Identify and report any issues that may adversely affect test performance or the accuracy and reliability of test results
• Participate in relevant training and competency programmes, including ISO/IEC 17025 training, proficiency testing, and inter-laboratory/ring tests, to meet laboratory compliance requirements
• Manage and maintain the sample retention room, ensuring proper identification, storage, traceability, and disposal of retained samples
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure the laboratory, equipment, and work areas are kept clean, safe, and organized

Job Requirements:

• ITE Diploma / Nitec / Higher Nitec in Chemistry or related discipline
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
• Good attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in laboratory testing and documentation
• Able to follow SOP and testing method accurately
• Report any out of specification, abnormal or unusual results to the supervisor immediately
• Monitor lab consumables, reagents, media & supplies and inform supervisor when replenishment is required
• Follow applicable food safety, quality, safety, hygiene, and regulatory requirements
• Able to commit to work on every alternate Saturday (8am to 12 noon)
