Job summary

sggovterp is seeking a Technical Officer to support the effective operation of laboratories, workshops and college-level facilities within the School of Engineering. You will manage assets, stores and inventory, handle procurement, and maintain equipment and training systems to ensure a safe, well-maintained training environment in line with institutional policies and audit requirements.

Qualifications

• Credentials in Engineering or related technical disciplines.
• Experience in laboratory, workshop or technical support environments.
• Experience in asset management, inventory control and procurement processes.
• Knowledge of laboratory/workshop safety practices and equipment maintenance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint for documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain School of Engineering laboratories and workshops, including equipment, tools and training systems.
• Carry out maintenance, servicing and repairs of laboratory and workshop equipment, and ensure proper housekeeping of facilities.
• Manage assets, stores and inventory, including asset tagging, stock control and regular inventory checks.
• Handle procurement of equipment, tools, consumables and training materials, including sourcing quotations and liaising with vendors.
• Prepare, issue and maintain laboratory and workshop training materials and equipment.
• Support the setup and operational readiness of labs and workshops for practical training and assessments.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, institutional procedures and equipment handling requirements; support audits and maintain records.
