Job summary

The Institute of Technical Education invites applications for a Technical Officer to support laboratory and workshop operations within the School of Engineering. You will oversee asset management, procurement, and the maintenance of labs to ensure a safe, compliant training environment.

Ideal candidates will have credentials in engineering or related technical disciplines, experience in lab/technical support, and strong MS Office documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Suitable credentials in Engineering or related technical disciplines.
• Experience in laboratory, workshop or technical support environments.
• Experience in asset management, inventory control and procurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain School of engineering laboratories and workshops, including equipment, tools and training systems.
• Carry out maintenance, servicing and repairs of laboratory equipment, and ensure proper housekeeping of facilities.
• Manage assets, stores and inventory, including asset tagging, stock control and regular inventory checks.
• Handle procurement of equipment, tools, consumables and training materials, including sourcing quotations and liaising with vendors.
• Prepare, issue and maintain laboratory and workshop training materials and equipment.
• Support the setup and operational readiness of labs and workshops for practical training and assessments.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, institutional procedures and equipment handling requirements.
• Maintain documentation and records related to maintenance, inventory, procurement and safety.
• Support internal and external audits by ensuring facilities and records are audit ready.
