Job summary

HCL SINGAPORE PTE. LTD. is seeking a Linux-focused Patch & Vulnerability Manager to safeguard all Infra environments in data centers in Singapore. You will patch Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu), monitor progress, and report compliance metrics.

You will collaborate with Apps/Business Owners, follow ITIL Change Control, and participate in a 24x7 shift model, ensuring timely communications and escalation to L2/L3 as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years working experience on Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix commands and system administration tasks.
• Familiar with VMware.
• Familiar with Linux patching and L1 troubleshooting skills.
• Windows OS knowledge is not mandatory.
• Basic understanding of databases (Oracle, MariaDB) is not mandatory.
• Coordinate tasks with multiple teams and showcase collaboration skills.
• Excel skills are a plus.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work in shifts/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform patching on Linux servers and troubleshoot issues.
• Monitor patching progress and produce reports on compliance and effectiveness.
• Participate in daily checks on Linux servers and log issues not in monitoring systems.
• Escalate major patching and vulnerability issues to L2/L3 teams as needed.
• Raise changes to implement patches in line with Change Control and ITIL standards.
• Communicate patch schedules, planning, and approvals with Apps/Business Owners.
• Be available for shifts in a 24x7 operating model.
• Carry out any other tasks related to the role as reasonably requested.

Job description

Main purpose of the role:

To be responsible for the patching and vulnerability management of all Infra environments across data centres

Key accountabilities and duties:

• To perform patching in the Linux , troubleshooting.
• Monitor systems to ensure all patching is completed successfully and track patch management metrics, producing reports on compliance & effectiveness.
• To participate in daily checks on Linux Servers and log any issues not already logged by monitoring and alerting.
• To elevate on all major patching and vulnerability issues to L2/L3 teams where appropriate.
• To raise appropriate changes in order for patch implementation and adhere to internal Change Control and ITIL standards.
• To ensure all communications on patch schedule, change planning & approval are done with Apps/Business Owners.
• Able to work Shifts that can be part of 24*7 operating model
• To carry out any other task associated with the role as reasonably requested.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

• 1 to 3yrs Working experience on Linux Servers (RHEL,CentOS,Ubuntu)
• Should have basic knowledge of Linux/Unix commands and system administration tasks.
