Job summary

HCL SINGAPORE PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced Windows System Administrator to manage patching and vulnerability management for Windows Server and VMware ESXi, with a focus on keeping critical systems secure and compliant.

You will administer Windows/VMware environments, perform patch assessments, and coordinate with L2/L3 teams. The role requires hands-on experience with BigFix or SCCM, Active Directory, and a readiness to work weekends per roster.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology.
• 9–12 years of experience in Windows System Administration.
• Experience with patch management tools such as BigFix and SCCM.
• SLA-driven environment experience and strong communication.
• Weekend availability per roster and on-call support when needed.

Responsibilities

• Patch and vulnerability management for Windows Server and VMware ESXi.
• System administration of Windows/VMware environments.
• Perform patch assessments and plan deployments.
• Coordinate patching with Apps/Business Owners and Change Control.
• Monitor patching progress and produce compliance reports.
• Basic VM tasks on VCenter and escalation to L2/L3 as needed.
• Maintain BIOS/firmware updates and log monitoring.

Job description

Main purpose of the role:

To be responsible for the patching and vulnerability management of all Windows Server, VMWare ESXi.

Roles & Responsibilities

• System Administration of Windows/VMWare environment.
• Extensive Experience in ESXi patching.
• Perform Patch assessment and recommend/plan deployment.
• To perform patching of ESXi, VMWare using the Tools that customer have with SOP based approach.
• Monitor systems to ensure all patching is completed successfully and track patch management metrics, producing reports on compliance & effectiveness.
• To perform some basic task on VM using Vcenter.
• To elevate on all major patching and any other issues to L2/L3 teams where appropriate.
• To raise appropriate changes in order for patch implementation and adhere to internal Change Control and ITIL standards.
• To ensure all communications on patch schedule, change planning & approval are done with Apps/Business Owners.
• To carry out any other task associated with the role as reasonably requested.
• Bios upgrades and firmware upgrades.
• Log monitoring/maintenance.

Skills Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology.
• 9-12 years of experience in Windows System Administration.

• The candidate should have worked in a SLA driven environment.
• Ability to work in a flexible, team-oriented and constantly changing environment.
• Able to work on weekends as per Roster and perform On-call support (during weekdays) as and when needed.
• Knowledge on Active Directory Management (OU/GPO/Forest and domain config and etc).
• Experience on Patch management tools like BigFix, SCCM etc.
• Experience on Automation of Pre and Post patching tasks.
• Hand-on knowledge on various RAID technologies (RAID 0+1, RAID 1, RAID 5 etc.) (Should have basic knowledge)
• Knowledge on Clustering (geo cluster, multinodes passive/active) ( Should have basic knowledge

Must Have Skills

• Knowledge of Windows 2008/2012/2019 Servers, VMWare ESXi.
• Hyper-V / Vmware - Deployment and management of hyper V VMs.
• Patch management and Vulnerability Management.
• Troubleshooting skills in OS & VMWare related issues.
