Job summary

NatSteel Holdings Pte Ltd is seeking reliable Kitchen Helpers to join our company canteen team in Singapore. You will assist in daily prep, handle breakfast items, beverages, and maintain high hygiene standards in a fast-paced environment.

We look for candidates with basic qualifications, Food Safety Level 1 (or equivalent) and willingness to work weekends. Mandarin speaking would be an advantage to communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have basic qualifications as listed (primary/secondary/NITEC or equivalent).
• Food Safety Level 1 certificate or equivalent is advantageous.
• Experience in canteen, coffee shop, food court, restaurant or central kitchen is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily preparation of ingredients for meal production.
• Prepare and serve local breakfast items such as bread, toast, and soft-boiled eggs.
• Operate and maintain beverage and fruit stall operations.
• Replenish food, beverages and supplies during operating hours.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen and dining areas.
• Wash utensils and equipment to meet sanitation standards.
• Receive, store and organize supplies according to safety requirements.
• Follow food hygiene, safety, and company procedures.

About the role

We are looking for reliable, hardworking, and enthusiastic Kitchen Helpers to join our company canteen team. Our canteen serves both company employees and external customers, and we are committed to providing quality food and excellent customer service in a clean and efficient environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the daily preparation of ingredients for meal production, including washing, cutting, peeling, and portioning vegetables, fruits, meat, and other food items.
• Prepare and serve local breakfast items such as bread, toast, soft-boiled eggs, and other breakfast set meals.
• Operate and maintain the beverage and fruit stall, including preparing hot and cold beverages, fruit cups, and fruit juices.
• Replenish food, beverages, and supplies throughout operating hours.
• Assist chefs and cooks with food preparation and basic cooking duties.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, beverage station, fruit stall, dining area, and food preparation equipment.
• Wash kitchen utensils, equipment, and workstations, ensuring proper sanitation standards are maintained.
• Receive, store, and organize food supplies and ingredients according to food safety requirements.
• Follow all food hygiene, workplace safety, and company operating procedures.
• Support catering activities and company events whenever required.

About you

• Primary, Secondary, NITEC, or equivalent qualification.
• Possession of a valid Food Safety (Level 1) certificate or equivalent will be an advantage.
• Prior experience in a canteen, coffee shop, food court, restaurant, or central kitchen will be an advantage.
• Able to speak Mandarin will be advantageous to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
• Experience in preparing local breakfast items (e.g. toast, bread, soft-boiled eggs) is preferred.
• Experience operating a beverage or fruit stall will be an added advantage.
• Able to stand for long hours and perform manual handling tasks.
• Positive attitude, responsible, and able to work effectively in a team.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining food quality and hygiene standards.
• Willing to work on weekends when required.
