We are seeking a highly motivated Marine Automation Engineer to join our growing marine engineering team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in vessel automation, electrical systems, pneumatic controls, and electronic instrumentation. You will be responsible for supporting installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, calibration, maintenance, and repair of automation systems onboard vessels and offshore assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair marine automation systems onboard vessels.
- Commission and calibrate automation and instrumentation systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic control systems.
- Troubleshoot PLC-based control systems, sensors, transmitters, actuators, and control panels.
- Service vessel alarm, monitoring, control, and safety systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Prepare technical reports, service reports, calibration certificates, and commissioning documentation.
- Liaise professionally with shipowners, shipyards, classification societies, and equipment manufacturers.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
- Travel locally and overseas when required to support vessel operations.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in marine automation, offshore, shipyard, or vessel maintenance.
Practical knowledge of:
- Marine electrical systems
- Pneumatic control systems
- Electronic automation systems
- PLC control systems
- Instrumentation and calibration
- Sensors, transmitters, actuators, and control valves
- Alarm and monitoring systems
- Motor control centres (MCC) and electrical switchboards
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication skills in English (spoken and written).
- Possession of a valid Class 3 driving licence is advantageous but not mandatory.
