Job summary

IPOS Singapore is seeking an intellectual property lawyer to provide timely, practical legal advice to business units and to support IP policies and legislation.

You will work under the Director of the Legal Department, with 2-4 years' experience and Singapore Bar, in a role that engages with government agencies and international IP issues. Strong communication, analytical thinking and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• A recognised law degree.
• Between 2-4 years relevant working experience and called to the Singapore Bar.
• Experience in government or a public agency is preferred.
• Familiarity with the law, policies and practices in IP law (e.g., Patents, Designs or Copyright).

Responsibilities

• Provision of timely, practical and commercially-sound legal advice to business units within IPOS to support their projects or work activities, or value-add to their business or policy objectives.
• Advice to IP registries on IP legislation and practices; assist with law reform in IP and emerging technologies; translate policies into legislation.
• Represent Singapore for IP issues in international agreements and diplomatic conferences, formulate policy positions, negotiate, draft and render advice; provide IP legal support and representation to IPOS and other government agencies in international or regional fora; translate international IP commitments into legislation.
• Provide advice to other government agencies on IP policies and practices.
