Responsibilities

• Daily Trade Operations: capture and reconcile trades; ensure timely settlement.

Investment Operations Associate

We are seeking a proactive, technically capable individual to join the operations team of a growing hedge fund. Working closely with investment, trading and technology teams, you will support daily trading operations and help improve the systems, processes and controls behind a complex, multi-asset business.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking responsibility for daily workflows, learning new products and using code to solve practical problems. You should learn quickly, ask thoughtful questions and follow issues through to resolution.

The ideal candidate will have 3–8 years of middle office or operations experience, preferably within a hedge fund, asset manager, or similarly complex trading environment. Familiarity with P&L attribution and portfolio valuation would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily Trade Operations: Perform daily trade capture and reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in settlement processes.
• Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with both internal teams and external brokers to resolve trade issues by end of day (T+0), ensuring timely resolutions.
• Margin Management: Research and respond to margin calls from external brokers, maintaining accurate records and responding promptly.
• Payments & Settlements: Oversee and ensure that G10 and onshore payments are released accurately and on time, following operational procedures.
• Automation and Process Improvement: Apply project management and problem-solving skills to develop and implement initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiencies and enhancing risk controls in response to regulatory changes.
• System Enhancements: Collaborate with internal and external teams to design and implement front-end to back-end system improvements. Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and system configuration as needed.
• Data quality and controls: Configure and maintain static data to ensure seamless integration across systems.
• Broader team support: Take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities, support colleagues and learn new products, markets and workflows as the business evolves.

Qualifications / Ideal Profile

• Relevant experience: 3-8 years of experience working in operations or middle office functions, ideally within a buy-side firm. Strong understanding of trade capture, lifecycle management, settlement, reconciliation, and margin call processes.
• Analytical grounding: Comfortable investigating data discrepancies and understanding their portfolio impact. Familiarity with P&L attribution, instrument pricing or portfolio valuation would be an advantage.
• Practical coding ability: Coding skills in VBA, Python, or other programming languages are highly preferred, with a strong ability to automate processes and work with data. SQL proficiency and experience with PostgresSQL are additional advantages.
• Proactive and accountable: Proactive, self‑motivated, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Quick to learn and adaptable: Able to pick up unfamiliar products and systems, respond to changing priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced environment.
• Clear communication: Able to work effectively across investment, trading, technology and external service‑provider teams, with sound judgment on when to elevate.
• Attention to detail: Organised and thorough, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain strong operational discipline.
