OCBC Group, Singapore's longest established bank, offers an Avatar Banking AI Engineering Intern role. You will work hands-on with the LLM-based AI Wealth Navigator, helping build, test and govern AI features used by customers in production.
You will gain practical experience coding in Python, evaluating AI outputs, and collaborating with engineers, product, compliance and risk teams to ensure accuracy, safety and regulatory compliance in a leading financial institution.
As Singapore’s longest established bank, we have been dedicated to enabling individuals and businesses to achieve their aspirations since 1932. How? By taking the time to truly understand people. From there, we provide support, services, solutions, and career paths that meet their individual needs and desires. Today, we’re on a journey of transformation. Leveraging technology and creativity to become a future-ready learning organisation. But for all that change, our strategic ambition is consistently clear and bold, which is to be Asia’s leading financial services partner for a sustainable future. We invite you to build the bank of the future. Innovate the way we deliver financial services. Work in friendly, supportive teams. Build lasting value in your community. Help people grow their assets, business, and investments. Take your learning as far as you can. Or simply enjoy a vibrant, future-ready career. Your Opportunity Starts Here.
Be part of the team building OCBC's AI Wealth Navigator, a live conversational AI channel in the OCBC WoW app. Customers speak or type in their own words and receive answers grounded in their own portfolio. These include market news relevant to their holdings, OCBC house views, and investment ideas suited to their profile. As an Avatar Banking AI Engineering Intern, you will work hands‑on on the large language model (LLM) agent at the heart of the channel. You will help develop new AI capabilities, test whether the AI's answers are accurate and grounded, and build the controls that keep it safe and compliant in a regulated banking setting. This internship offers real exposure to building, deploying and governing AI in production, used by real customers.
To excel in this role, you will bring a strong interest in AI, software engineering and continuous learning. You will be comfortable building with LLMs, questioning AI outputs instead of trusting them, and working with teams across the bank to solve real business problems. Success comes from careful, evidence‑led thinking: testing your own work, measuring results, and saying plainly when something is not working. Your curiosity, problem‑solving mindset and attention to detail will help you deliver meaningful outcomes and get the most from your internship.
Group Engineering, within the Group Operations & Technology Division, drives OCBC's technology transformation by delivering innovative, secure and scalable solutions that support the bank's businesses and customers. As part of the Digital Channels team for Avatar Banking, you will work with AI engineers, architects, product owners and business stakeholders to build and improve the AI Wealth Navigator. You will also work closely with Compliance and Risk, gaining first‑hand exposure to how AI is developed, tested and governed in a leading financial institution.
