The Winstead School invites an Assistant Teacher (SEN Support) to join our team in Singapore. You will support high-quality teaching and student well-being under the Head of School, working with teachers and therapy/pastoral care staff to implement personalised strategies for diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma or Degree in Education, Special Educational Needs, Psychology, Child Development or a related field.
• Experience working with children or young people with diverse learning needs.
• Understanding of inclusive education practices and student support strategies.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Calm, patient and flexible approach to supporting students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Good organisational and classroom support skills.
• Commitment to inclusive education and student well-being.

Responsibilities

• Support students within lessons to access learning and engage successfully in classroom activities.
• Work with individual students and small groups under the guidance of the class teacher.
• Assist with implementing personalised learning strategies and classroom accommodations.
• Support students with organisation, attention, communication, emotional regulation and task completion where required.
• Reinforce teacher instructions and help break learning into manageable steps for students.
• Encourage student independence, confidence and resilience.
• Promote positive engagement and participation within lessons and school activities.
• Support practical, social and emotional development alongside academic learning.
• Support inclusive practices for students with diverse learning needs (e.g., autism, ADHD).
• Build positive and respectful relationships with students based on trust and encouragement.
• Help maintain a calm, safe and supportive learning environment.
• Support students with emotional regulation and transitions throughout the school day.
• Implement behaviour support strategies in line with school expectations and student support plans.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and TPC staff to support student well-being and development.
• Maintain student dignity, confidentiality and emotional safety at all times.
• Support teachers in preparing learning materials and classroom resources.
• Assist with classroom organisation and maintaining an effective learning environment.
• Support supervision during lessons, break times, transitions, activities or school events where required.
• Assist with monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers.
• Contribute to observations and discussions regarding student development and support needs.
• Help facilitate practical, creative or hands-on learning activities where appropriate.
