Job summary

Brunel is seeking an accomplished HSE Coordinator Lead to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, and Risk Management across offshore, marine, energy, and major project environments.

The role focuses on driving HSEQ excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, strengthening safety culture, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across complex operations, brownfield maintenance, shutdowns, and capital projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field required.
• Lead Auditor qualification or equivalent certification preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of HSEQ leadership experience in offshore/oil & gas environments.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 management systems.
• Proven experience with incident investigations and contractor audits.

• Lead development and continual improvement of HSEQ management systems aligned with ISO standards.

Job description

We are seeking an accomplished HSE Coordinator Lead to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, and Risk Management functions within offshore, marine, energy, oil & gas, and major project environments.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving organizational HSEQ excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, strengthening safety culture, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across complex operations, brownfield maintenance activities, shutdowns, turnarounds, and capital projects.

• Lead the development, implementation, and continual improvement of Corporate HSEQ Management Systems aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
• Provide expert guidance on regulatory requirements, industry best practices, safety case compliance, and risk management frameworks.
• Act as the focal point for offshore operations, maintenance activities, major shutdowns, dry dock projects, and construction campaigns.
• Lead and facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action management, and organizational learning initiatives.
• Manage internal and external audit programs, contractor assurance activities, and compliance verification processes.
• Develop HSEQ strategies that improve operational performance, workforce engagement, and safety culture across the organization.
• Oversee contractor HSEQ performance, high-risk work activities, permit-to-work systems, energy isolation, and critical risk controls.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to HSEQ personnel, operational teams, and project stakeholders.
• Lead risk assessments, hazard studies, and assurance activities for offshore facilities, marine assets, and major projects.
• Develop and review emergency response plans, training programs, competency frameworks, and crisis management processes.
• Monitor and report HSEQ performance metrics and present findings to senior management and clients.
• Facilitate safety leadership forums, workforce engagement programs, and behavioral safety initiatives.
• Support tender submissions, client audits, management reviews, and business improvement projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of HSEQ leadership experience within Offshore Oil & Gas, FPSO Operations, Marine, Energy, Construction, or Heavy Industrial environments.
• Proven experience supporting offshore assets, FPSOs, maintenance operations, dry dock programs, shutdowns, turnarounds, or large-scale projects.
• Extensive knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 Management Systems.
• Demonstrated experience conducting compliance audits, contractor audits, and assurance reviews.
• Strong background in incident investigation methodologies such as ICAM, TapRoot, BSCAT, TOPSET, or equivalent.
• Experience leading change management and safety culture transformation initiatives.
• Strong understanding of safety case regimes, risk management processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated capability in contractor management, stakeholder engagement, and workforce leadership.
• Lead Auditor qualification
• Experience working with major operators
