Job summary

The Centre for Healthcare Innovation Living Lab (CHILL) invites an experienced Senior Assistant Manager to lead industrial design and product development at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. You will guide user research, concept development, and vendor engagement across the full lifecycle from early ideas to manufacture-ready prototypes.

You will build CMF specifications, ensure ISO/ FDA/HSA compliance where applicable, and deliver workshops to uplift prototyping skills among healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in industrial design or design engineering with a portfolio of physical products.
• Experience manufacturing prototypes and managing vendors for mid-to-high fidelity outputs.
• Bachelor-level degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Run user research with healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and residents to define product requirements.
• Conduct market research to map existing or comparable product solutions.
• Lead concept development and ideation sessions; prioritise concepts for prototyping.
• Create and update CAD models, drawings, and documentation using Rhino, Fusion 360, SolidWorks/Autodesk, Illustrator.
• Build low-to-mid fidelity prototypes via 3D printing, machining, and basic fabrication; define CMF specs.
• Ensure prototypes are suitable for mass manufacture and comply with ISO 13485, FDA, and HSA guidelines where applicable.
• Design and conduct user tests in lab and real-world settings; document outcomes and next steps.
• Source and manage third-party vendors for prototypes and manufactured products; write specs and manage change requests.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation and coordinate with NHG IP office to protect product IP.
• Deliver workshops to build prototyping skills among healthcare professionals.
