Job description

HEAD PICKLEBALL COACH Build. Lead. Coach. Grow the next generation of pickleball at PPM.

Location: Pickle Padel Movement, Singapore

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Competitive, based on experience and track record

ABOUT PICKLE PADEL MOVEMENT

Pickle Padel Movement (PPM) is a growing racket sports community in Singapore built around pickleball, padel and a shared passion for the game. We believe a great club is about more than courts. It is about the people you meet, the players you develop and the culture you build together.

As our pickleball community continues to grow, we are looking for an ambitious and experienced Head Pickleball Coach to take ownership of our pickleball programme and help shape the next stage of PPM.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to do more than teach lessons.

You will have the opportunity to build a programme, lead a coaching team, develop players and help establish PPM as a leading destination for pickleball in Singapore.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As Head Pickleball Coach, you will be the key coaching leader for pickleball at PPM.

You will be responsible for the quality, growth and development of our pickleball programme — from introducing new players to the sport, to developing advanced and competition-level players.

You will work closely with the management team to shape:

  • Our coaching philosophy and standards
  • Player development pathways
  • Group classes and private coaching
  • Clinics, camps and workshops
  • Social and community programmes
  • Competitive training and teams
  • Development of our coaching team
  • Partnerships and external opportunities

We are looking for someone who sees the bigger picture and wants to build something of their own within PPM.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. OWN THE PICKLEBALL PROGRAMME

Take ownership of the overall development and quality of PPM's pickleball programme.

  • Develop a clear coaching and player-development pathway from beginner to advanced and competitive levels.
  • Build and refine group classes, private lessons, clinics, camps and specialised programmes.
  • Identify new programme opportunities based on player demand and market trends.
  • Work with management to establish pricing, programme structure and scheduling.
  • Monitor programme performance, participation and player retention.
  • Continuously improve the coaching experience based on player feedback and results.

You are not just delivering the programme — you help design it.

2. COACH & DEVELOP PLAYERS

Lead by example as one of PPM's most visible coaches.

  • Conduct high-quality lessons for beginners through competition-level players.
  • Develop players technically, tactically, physically and mentally.
  • Assess player levels and provide appropriate development pathways.
  • Help players transition from recreational play into structured training and competition.
  • Develop advanced and competition-level training programmes.
  • Support PPM players competing in local, regional and international tournaments.
  • Build strong relationships with regular players and understand their goals.

Our aim is for players to feel that they are genuinely improving because they train at PPM.

3. BUILD & LEAD THE COACHING TEAM

Develop a strong coaching culture within PPM.

  • Recruit, assess and onboard pickleball coaches.
  • Establish coaching standards and lesson expectations.
  • Mentor junior and developing coaches.
  • Conduct coaching observations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Develop lesson frameworks and training resources.
  • Coordinate with operations to optimise coach scheduling and court utilisation.
  • Ensure consistency in coaching quality across the programme.

The Head Coach should be someone other coaches want to learn from and work with.

4. DEVELOP PPM'S COMPETITIVE PROGRAMME

Build a pathway for players who want to compete.

  • Identify high-potential players within the PPM community.
  • Develop structured training squads and competition programmes.
  • Establish PPM representative teams where appropriate.
  • Organise regular matchplay and competition preparation sessions.
  • Support players in tournament selection, preparation and development.
  • Build relationships with competitive players, coaches and clubs locally and regionally.
  • Help position PPM as a serious home for competitive pickleball.
5. GROW THE COMMUNITY

We believe coaching and community go hand in hand.

The Head Coach will play an active role in creating a strong and welcoming pickleball culture at PPM.

  • Host and participate in social play sessions.
  • Organise Americano, round-robin, matchplay and community events.
  • Help new players integrate into the PPM community.
  • Create opportunities for players of similar levels to meet and play regularly.
  • Engage with members beyond formal coaching sessions.
  • Be an approachable and recognisable face of PPM pickleball.

The goal isn't just to create better players — it's to create players who want to keep coming back.

6. EVENTS, CONTENT & PARTNERSHIPS

Work with management and the wider PPM team to grow the profile of pickleball.

  • Support clinics and events with local and international coaches and players.
  • Assist with tournaments, camps and special programmes.
  • Represent PPM at relevant external events.
  • Contribute to coaching content, social media and promotional campaigns.
  • Participate in videos, tips and educational content where appropriate.
  • Explore opportunities for partnerships with brands, schools, corporations and other sports organisations.
COMMERCIAL & PROGRAMME OWNERSHIP

This is a leadership role with commercial responsibility.

The Head Coach will work with management to grow a sustainable and successful pickleball programme.

Key areas include:

  • Coach utilisation and productivity
  • Class occupancy
  • Private lesson revenue
  • Clinic and camp participation
  • Player retention
  • Programme development
  • Coaching team productivity
  • Member engagement
  • Revenue growth

You will be expected to look at the programme not only from a coaching perspective, but also from a player experience and business perspective.

  • Strong technical and tactical understanding of pickleball.
  • Experience developing players, preferably including advanced or competitive players.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor other coaches.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • A professional and positive attitude.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends and peak club hours.
  • Genuine passion for growing pickleball and building a community.
Strongly preferred:
  • Recognised pickleball coaching certification such as PPR or equivalent.
  • High-level competitive playing experience.
  • Experience coaching competition-level players.
  • Experience leading a coaching team or sports programme.
  • Experience organising tournaments, clinics or camps.

  • Experience in another racket sport at a competitive level.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You might be the right person if you are someone who thinks:

“I don't just want to coach. I want to build a programme.”

You enjoy being on court, but you're also comfortable stepping off court to solve problems, develop coaches, plan programmes and work with management.

You care about technical excellence, but you also understand that people, community and experience are what make a club special.

You are ambitious, proactive and willing to take ownership.

Most importantly, you want to be part of building something that is bigger than just yourself.
