Job summary

Trulyyy seeks a Head of Engineering in Singapore to build the payment service architecture from scratch and lead the engineering team. The role focuses on a robust double-entry ledger, secure payment orchestration, and end-to-end data integrity across upstream and internal systems.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in backend engineering with ledger or core banking experience, and can balance hands-on coding with strategic leadership from the outset.

Job description

Our client is a leading financial service provider in the CFD trading space. They are looking for a Head of Engineering to build up the payment service architecture and engineering team from scratch.

Responsibility:

• Design and build the double-entry ledger and balance state machine, guaranteeing that books and reality always reconcile
• Lead payment orchestration: abstract many upstream providers behind one clean internal interface, with smart routing and failover
• Own the information flow end to end: upstream APIs, callbacks, event handling, idempotency and exactly-once processing
• Build automated multi-party reconciliation (upstream providers, banks, on-chain and internal ledger), with discrepancies cleared the same day
• Personally write and review core code in the early stage, then build and lead the ledger, integration and reconciliation squads
• Set engineering discipline for the funds path: dual review for every change, change freeze windows, and full auditability

Requirement:

• 10+ years in backend engineering, with deep experience in ledger, clearing and settlement, or core banking systems
• Built from scratch at least one production system that handled real customer funds
• Fluent in transactional correctness: idempotency, exactly-once, event sourcing, balance invariants, and never storing money as floating point
• Hands-on: comfortable spending at least half your time writing code in the early stage

Nice to Have

• Ledger or clearing experience at a leading APAC payments company or a major digital payments platform
• Exposure to crypto: wallet ledgers, on-chain reconciliation or exchange clearing
• Experience integrating with payment providers, banks or custodians at scale
