Job summary

Base Camp Digital in Singapore is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Lead to head a core backend team building scalable services and REST APIs in Golang. You will own platform reliability, cloud infrastructure, and production operations for a global B2B tech business.

You will collaborate with Product, Architecture and DevOps to design high-performance systems and improve observability while driving quality and continuous delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on Golang backend development.
• Strong experience with AWS and cloud platforms.
• Background in platform/production engineering and high-volume APIs.
• Experience designing distributed systems and scalable services.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker and modern CI/CD practices.
• Relational DBs, preferably PostgreSQL.

Software Engineering Lead

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to lead a core engineering team responsible for building and operating highly scalable, reliable backend platforms and services supporting a global B2B technology business.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will be responsible not only for backend development, but also for the underlying platform, cloud infrastructure, scalability, reliability, deployment and production operations of critical services.

You will work closely with product, architecture and engineering teams to design and evolve high-performance systems that operate at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers while remaining hands-on technically.
• Design and develop scalable backend services and high-volume REST APIs using Golang.
• Own the reliability, scalability, performance and availability of core platform services.
• Design and operate cloud-native solutions on AWS.
• Work with Kubernetes/EKS, Docker, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code to support automated and reliable deployments.
• Drive engineering best practices including code reviews, automated testing, TDD, documentation and continuous improvement.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and improve system resilience and observability.
• Work closely with Product, Architecture, DevOps and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Support the modernization and evolution of existing systems and services.
• Establish a strong engineering culture focused on quality, ownership and continuous delivery.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Golang and backend software development.
• Strong experience with AWS and cloud-based application platforms.
• Experience with platform engineering, cloud infrastructure or production engineering in addition to application/backend development.
• Proven experience designing and operating high-volume APIs, microservices or distributed systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and modern CI/CD practices.
• Good understanding of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience leading, mentoring or technically guiding software engineering teams.
• Experience working on a B2B product or technology platform is essential.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, reliability and production operations.

Preferred Experience

• Experience within payments, fintech, banking, digital financial services, remittance or mobile financial services.
• Experience working with large-scale transaction processing or financial APIs.
• Infrastructure as Code experience such as Terraform.
• Experience modernising or working with legacy/polyglot systems.
• Familiarity with modern frontend technologies such as Vue.js or JavaScript/TypeScript.
