Job summary

Energy Market Authority (EMA) in Singapore is seeking a System Stability and Planning engineer to strengthen the country’s power grid. You will review transmission plans, perform load-flow and stability analyses, and evaluate new energy sources for secure operation.

You will liaise with licensees and stakeholders, contribute to planning criteria and standards, and explore technologies like energy storage and HVDC to enhance resilience and planning.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical or power engineering.
• Experience in power system studies and planning is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess transmission network development plans for criteria compliance and reliable operation.
• Perform power system studies (load flow, contingency, fault level, stability) and assess impacts.
• Assess effects of new developments, generation facilities, imports and emerging technologies on the system.
• Review transmission planning studies and technical submissions from stakeholders.
• Support creation of transmission planning criteria, standards and grid connection requirements.
• Assist integration of new technologies (ESS, HVDC) into the system.
• Support long-term planning and reliability assessments.
• Liaise with licensees and stakeholders on planning matters.
