Job summary

GIC seeks a Technical and Engineering Lead for middleware and web services across its global estate. You will own the evolution of the integration layer—from legacy servers to cloud-native, open-source, and AI-enabled architecture—ensuring low-latency, high-volume transaction flows including SWIFT.

You will partner with application, AI, analytics and operations teams, define a multi-year technical vision, and build a high-performing global team of middleware engineers and technical managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 15+ years IT experience with middleware and application servers in a large organisation (banking/financial services preferred).
• Hands-on IBM middleware administration (WebSphere/WebLogic) required.
• Experience with IBM MQ and SWIFT platforms.
• Experience with at least one public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Scripting depth: Python, Shell/Perl; Ansible for automation.
• Unix/Linux and Windows administration.
• Security/compliance knowledge (ISO 27002, SDLC).
• DevOps/CI/CD with Jenkins or Spinnaker; GitHub source control.
• Terraform IaC experience.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive multi-year strategic roadmap for middleware and web services.
• Define multi-year technical vision for middleware, web services and SWIFT engineering.
• Provide expertise in IBM hosting technologies and other web hosting tech.
• Drive cloud-native adoption for web services and middleware.
• Design and maintain low-latency, high-volume message-driven processes.
• Own management of SWIFT applications and operational environment.
• Deliver API and integration capability across the estate (IBM MQ, API gateway).
• Build observability for middleware platforms (Grafana, Datadog).
• Automate operational tasks using wsadmin, Python, Ansible or PowerShell.
• Develop disaster recovery plans and runbooks for complex platforms.
• Embed DevOps and Agile practices in delivery.
• Enforce security protocols and compliance across middleware components.
• Contribute to risk management and information security in line with standards.
