Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 18+ years IT experience with at least 15+ years hands-on middleware/webhosting in large organizations, preferably banking.
• Strong knowledge of IBM middleware products: WebSphere, WebLogic, Portal, Process Server, Liberty, Forms and Reports, IHS.
• Experience in IT security compliance, SSL, server certificates, and security protocols.
• Proficiency in WAS ing, J2EE, XML, SQL, Shell/Perl.
• Unix/Linux system administration and TCP/IP networking.
• Familiarity with ISO27002, SDLC risk management frameworks.
• Public cloud experience: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• DevOps mindset and experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/Spinnaker).
• IaC tooling experience (Terraform).
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own a multi-year strategic roadmap for middleware and web services.
• Provide expertise in IBM and other hosting technologies; guide migration and optimization efforts.
• Drive AI/AIops capabilities, anomaly detection, auto-scaling, and automated patching.
• Build observability for middleware platforms using Grafana, Datadog or equivalent.
• Lead cloud-native adoption for web services while securing on-prem apps and data.
• Create self-service middleware capabilities via UI and API for end users.
• Enforce enterprise security policies and manage SSL certificates across middleware.
• Design high-throughput, low-latency message processing and SWIFT applications.
• Automate operational tasks using wasadmin, Python, Ansible, PowerShell.
• Oversee DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines; manage changes via ServiceNow.

Job description

Technical Leadership & Vision:

• Develop and own a multi-year strategic roadmap formiddleware and web services aligned with business goals (e.g., cloud migration, cost optimization, latency SLAs, AI/ML readiness).
• Expertise in application hosting technologies with specialized emphasis on IBM technologies i.e. WebSphere/WebLogic Application Server, WebSphere Portal, WebSphere Liberty, WebSphere Process Server, WebLogic Forms and Reports, IHS (IBM HTTP Server)
• Provide expertise in other web hosting technologies like Oracle Application Server, Apache, Tomcat etc
• Drive adoption of AI/agentic/AIOps capabilities: e.g.,anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, self-healing, auto-scaling of clusters/queue managers and automated patching.
• Develop comprehensive multi-year technical vision and roadmap for Client's global middleware, web services, and SWIFT engineering, aligning with overall business objectives and investment strategies.
• Build end-to-end observability for middleware platforms using modern platforms (Grafana, Datadog or equivalent)
• Drive the adoption of cloud-native patterns for web services and middleware on AWS, while ensuring the continued stability and security of critical on-premises applications and secret data.
• Build self-service capabilities in middleware space via UI and API based solutions which are secure and can be consumed by end users and applications.
• Enforce enterprise information security protocols, manage SSL certificates and execute vulnerability patching for middleware components.
• Design and maintain message-driven processes for low latency and high-volume transaction environments (wires, ACH, instant payments) and Managing SWIFT applications
• Automate operational tasks and infrastructure changes using wasadmin, Python, Ansible, or PowerShell.
• Analyze customer requirements to ensure all standards, policies and guidelines are upheld from the information security perspective and support routine compliance activities.
• Ability to analyze Information Security Procedures and help implement the same across all of IT and Business. Thorough understanding of industry and corporate technology standards for Information Security. Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
• Adoption of DevOPS and Agile methodologies in day-to-day tasks.

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Skilled Middleware professional with at least 18+ years experience in information technology and at least 15+ years hands-on experience on middleware webhosting and application server products in a large organization preferably banking environment
• Solid knowledge in administering IBM middleware products i.e. WebSphere and WebLogic Application Server, WebSphere Portal, WebSphere Process Server, WebSphere Liberty, WebLogic Forms and Reports, IHS (IBM HTTP Server)
• Experience in IT security compliance and implementation and use of security protocols (SSL, Server certificates etc.)
• Good experience using WAS ing, J2EE, XML, SQL and Shell/Perl ing.
• Experience with Unix system administration and TCP/IP networking
• Familiarity of Compliance and risk management frameworks and methodologies (ISO27002, SDLC).
• Strong analytical & troubleshooting skills
• Hands on experience on at least one public cloud such as AWS, Azure or GCP

• Experience in DevOps and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or Spinnaker
• Experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform such as write, test, and deploy clean, reusable Terraform modules.
• Certification in Public cloud and Middleware products is desirable.
