Job summary

SD Legal seeks a General Counsel to lead a global technology/media platform, partnering with the CEO to drive risk-aware growth. You will mentor a team, handle cross-border deals, and give timely advice to product, sales and marketing while ensuring governance and compliance.

The role involves working with Asia and overseas teams and navigating regulatory challenges with in-country counsel and external vendors.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of post-qualification experience.
• Tier 1 law credentials and top-tier education.
• Experience in both law firms and in-house environments.

Job description

This is an opportunity to be the General Counsel for a technology / media platform, with coverage globally. You will manage a team and support the CEO with a business partnering mindset / autonomy / responsibility and accountability.

Job Description

• You will work on a range of commercial deals from partnerships to sponsorship and at a global level.
• You will manage a team.
• You will advise C-Suite on all business related matters, with a short and long term outlook.
• On a day to day, key areas include supporting deal teams as a lead on negotiations.
• You will support product, sales and marketing teams with real-time legal advice, as well as longer term strategy aligned input, make no mistake, legal sign-off is critical.
• New deals signed will face cross-border challenges and regulatory obstacles, your role (with the help of in-country counsel / external vendors) will be to anticipate and predict ahead of time where resources should be allocated to overcome challenges.
• You will liaise and work with colleagues on global products / projects, many of which will crossover with the US and EMEA.

Requirements

• 15+ PQE
• Education and Law Firm credentials should be Tier 1
• Mixture of law firm and In-House experience
• Experience in TMT, ideally in Media as a preference
• Background covering commercial deals, corporate activities (JV and Fundraising)
• Experience supporting product, sales and marketing team
• Softer skills include: Ability to build rapport in short time frames, friendly, high standards on work output, driven but not aggressive
• Ability to work with various cultural backgrounds in Asia and overseas
