About the role
We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Freight Procurement Officer to join our Supply Chain team. You will be responsible for sourcing and negotiating competitive freight rates, managing relationships with shipping lines and logistics providers, and identifying opportunities to reduce logistics costs. You will also support Sales and Operations teams with freight costing and transportation solutions.
Key responsibilities
Source and negotiate competitive freight rates for FCL, LCL, ISO Tank and air freight.
Obtain and evaluate quotations from shipping lines, freight forwarders and logistics providers.
Monitor freight market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Negotiate and manage freight contracts, rates and service terms.
Review freight rate increases, surcharges and carrier proposals.
Check freight invoices and resolve billing discrepancies, including demurrage and detention charges.
Maintain good working relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders and logistics partners.
Work closely with Sales, Customer Service and Operations on freight requirements and costing.
Provide accurate and competitive freight costing for customer quotations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
About you
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or a related field.
2-3 years of relevant experience in freight forwarding, shipping lines, logistics procurement or freight sales.
Good knowledge of ocean freight (FCL/LCL), Incoterms and international trade lanes.
Strong negotiation, communication and analytical skills.
Commercially minded, proactive and able to work under tight deadlines.
Good knowledge of MS Office with strong attention to detail.
Able to work independently as well as in a team.
Experience in regional or global sourcing.
Existing contacts or network with shipping lines and logistics providers.
