A leading hyperscale data centre operator with an expanding presence across Asia Pacific and the Middle East is seeking an experienced Data Centre Forensic Manager to strengthen engineering reliability and operational excellence across its regional portfolio.
This is a highly strategic and technically demanding opportunity for an accomplished engineering professional to take ownership of critical incident investigations, complex infrastructure troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives across mission‑critical data centre environments.
Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Forensic Engineering and operating as part of the Operations Leadership team, the successful candidate will play an instrumental role in ensuring infrastructure resilience, accelerating incident recovery and driving improvements across engineering design, construction and operations.
The position offers extensive regional exposure, working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, technical specialists, operations leaders and external stakeholders to enhance the performance and reliability of hyperscale data centre infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Critical Incident Management & Forensic Engineering
- Lead forensic investigations and technical responses to critical infrastructure incidents across the regional data centre portfolio, ensuring timely recovery and effective stakeholder coordination.
- Direct real-time troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) of complex mechanical, electrical and control system failures.
- Conduct detailed forensic engineering assessments to identify underlying equipment, system and operational deficiencies.
- Analyse equipment performance, operational data and historical trends to identify emerging risks, recurring failures and opportunities to improve reliability.
- Evaluate infrastructure performance, system control parameters and operational efficiency against original design intent, identifying and quantifying performance deviations.
- Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting support to site operations teams, both remotely and through on‑site intervention.
- Coordinate internal engineering specialists, external consultants, vendors and contractors to ensure accurate, consistent and timely incident resolution.
Engineering Reliability & Risk Mitigation
- Translate root cause analysis findings into actionable improvements across engineering design, construction practices, maintenance strategies and operational procedures.
- Review corrective and preventive maintenance programmes to identify opportunities for enhanced infrastructure reliability and operational performance.
- Assess workforce capabilities, vendor resources, training programmes, operating procedures and site‑specific requirements as part of comprehensive incident investigations.
- Identify systemic engineering and operational risks and develop targeted mitigation strategies to minimise recurrence.
- Champion engineering reliability, technical accountability and continuous improvement across the regional portfolio.
- Support technical due diligence activities associated with potential expansion into new markets.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve operational processes, engineering performance and organisational effectiveness.
- Evaluate existing workflows, procedures and operating practices through data-driven analysis to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
- Design and implement practical, scalable improvements that enhance operational consistency, productivity and reliability.
- Drive end-to-end delivery of improvement initiatives, from problem identification and solution development through implementation and performance evaluation.
- Establish measurable performance indicators to assess the effectiveness and operational benefits of improvement initiatives.
- Ensure lessons learned from incidents and operational reviews are systematically communicated and incorporated into business-wide engineering and operational practices.
- Collaborate with design, construction and operations teams to embed continuous improvement across the infrastructure lifecycle.
Regional Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Provide technical leadership and direction to multidisciplinary subject matter experts during high-priority incident investigations.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability and consistent technical decision-making across geographically dispersed teams.
- Engage senior management, site operations teams, customers and external stakeholders on incident investigations, technical findings and improvement recommendations.
- Communicate complex engineering assessments and technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support organisational change initiatives and the adoption of improved engineering and operational practices across multiple regional locations.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering or a related technical discipline. Equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
- Strong technical background in mission‑critical infrastructure, with a comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical and control systems.
- Extensive knowledge of data centre operations, infrastructure performance, maintenance strategies and operational processes.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate complex equipment and system failures, conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
- Strong analytical capabilities, with experience interpreting equipment performance data, identifying trends and diagnosing technical issues.
- Practical understanding of ITIL principles and their application to building services management within data centre environments.
- Strong project management capabilities, including experience coordinating geographically dispersed teams and managing organisational change.
- Ability to lead technical investigations and make sound decisions under pressure in high‑severity, 24/7 mission‑critical operating environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical findings clearly.
- Proven problem‑solving capabilities, with a structured approach to identifying underlying issues and developing sustainable engineering solutions.
- Willingness to travel approximately 20% across Asia Pacific to support operational requirements, technical investigations and stakeholder engagement.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- This position presents an opportunity to influence engineering reliability and operational performance across a growing regional hyperscale data centre portfolio.
- Rather than focusing solely on day‑to‑day facility operations, the successful candidate will be at the forefront of complex technical investigations, working across multiple facilities and engineering disciplines to identify the causes of critical infrastructure failures and implement lasting solutions.
- For an experienced data centre engineering professional with a strong background in mission‑critical systems, technical troubleshooting and operational leadership, this role offers the opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with regional influence and measurable business impact.
