Job summary

Vinayak Scaffold & Services Pte Ltd is seeking a Food Lab Assistant to support NFS practical lessons by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness of Food Labs and storage areas, and assisting with stock checks and reordering. The role emphasizes food safety and proper handling of equipment.

You will also assist with food preparation for projects and events, receive deliveries and liaise with suppliers to replace missing or damaged items, ensuring a smooth operation of the Food Lab.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in cutting, preparing and portioning ingredients for NFS practical lessons according to recipes and instructions provided.
• Store food ingredients properly in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness, tidiness and proper arrangement of Food Labs, Work Rooms and storage areas.
• Clean and maintain refrigerators, including checking and clearing unwanted or expired food items.
• Ensure cookers, equipment and the main gas supply are switched off after lessons and at the end of the day.
• Dispose of rubbish, unwanted packaging, boxes and other items appropriately.
• Maintain and organise the centre store and Food Lab areas.
• Wash and dry rags using the washer/dryer machine.
• Conduct inventory and stock checks of food ingredients, consumables, cutlery and equipment.
• Monitor stocks of detergents, soaps, sponges and other cleaning supplies and arrange for replenishment when required.
• Ensure Food Labs are properly cleaned and arranged after practical lessons.
• Assist with food preparation for NFS projects, events, competitions, Teachers’ Day and other departmental activities.
• Assist with ordering food ingredients for NFS practical lessons and examinations.
• Receive and check food deliveries and store ingredients appropriately.
• Liaise with grocers/suppliers regarding missing, damaged or unsuitable ingredients and arrange for replacement where necessary.
• Monitor leftover ingredients for carry-forward and inform teachers if ingredients are insufficient for upcoming lessons.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the FCE/NFS teachers.
