Silith in Singapore seeks a Firmware Engineer to develop and maintain firmware for CPO optical engines and modules, owning device control, monitoring, and fault protection across hardware and software boundaries.
You will work with MCUs, DSPs, interfaces like I2C, SPI, UART, and MDIO, implement closed-loop control, manage memory, and collaborate with test equipment and production teams to ensure robust, scalable firmware.
The Firmware Engineer will develop and maintain firmware for CPO optical engines and modules. This person will own device control, monitoring, communication interfaces, and fault protection, while also supporting production test infrastructure. Bachelor’s degree or above in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Communications, Automation, Microelectronics, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in embedded firmware, MCU, optical modules, optical communications equipment, or high-speed hardware product development.
Proficient in C/C++ with hands‑on MCU firmware development experience and the ability to independently design, develop, debug, and maintain firmware.
Solid understanding of ARM Cortex-M, Cortex-A, or other mainstream MCU/processor architectures, with experience in bare‑metal or RTOS development.
Strong knowledge of hardware communication interfaces and protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, MDIO, and GPIO, with the ability to debug interfaces using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and related tools.
Solid understanding of optical modules and optical engines, including control and monitoring of lasers, TIAs, drivers, PDs, temperature sensors, EEPROMs, and related devices.
Experience with Git or other version control systems, with good software development practices and coding standards.
Proficiency in one or more firmware development and build tools such as Keil, IAR, GCC, and C Make, with strong embedded debugging skills.
Experience with Python or other scripting languages for automated testing, production testing, or firmware debugging tools is preferred.
Experience with CPO, 800G/1.6T optical modules, optical engines, DSPs, SerDes, or data center optical communication products is preferred.
