Singapore | Full-time | On-site | Reports to the CEO
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a Finance Manager to own the finance function end to end -
books, merchant reconciliation, safeguarding, audit and regulatory submissions
across our group entities - while leading a team of two Finance Operations
Executives.
This is a hands-on role. You will be in the reconciliations, in the ledger, and
in the numbers yourself, not reviewing from a distance. You will also sit close
to the CEO as a genuine business partner: when a question comes up about unit
economics, take rate, cost to serve or the margin on a given payment method, you
are the person who knows the answer and can show the working.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Books and close
- Own the monthly and annual close across all group entities - accurate books, closed on time, every month.
- Maintain the general ledger, intercompany positions, FX translation, revenue recognition and accruals.
- Produce management accounts and the reporting pack for the CEO, board and investors.
Merchant reconciliation and settlement
- Own daily and monthly reconciliation between acquirer/scheme settlement, our internal ledger, merchant payouts and the bank.
- Own the merchant payable position - know what we owe merchants at any point in time, and be able to prove it.
- Investigate and clear breaks at source. Reconciliation differences get root-caused, not carried forward.
- Work with Engineering and Operations to fix the upstream causes of recurring
Safeguarding and regulatory
- Own safeguarding of relevant money under the MAS Payment Services Act - daily computation, segregation, the safeguarding undertaking, and reconciliation of safeguarded balances against merchant liability.
- Prepare and file all regulatory submissions on time and accurately, across the jurisdictions we operate in.
- Own the annual safeguarding audit and any regulator queries or inspections that touch finance.
- Maintain the controls and evidence trail that make all of the above defensible.
Audit
- Own the annual statutory audit for the group and for each subsidiary, in every jurisdiction we operate in.
- Be the primary point of contact for auditors - scope the timeline, prepare the PBC schedules, answer queries directly and close them out.
- Manage local auditors, tax agents and corporate secretarial providers across
- Deliver signed accounts on time. No extensions as a matter of course.
Team
- Lead, coach and develop two Finance Operations Executives.
- Set the standard for accuracy and timeliness, and build process and documentation so the function scales beyond three people.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
- 6+ years of finance experience, with a Big 4 foundation (audit or equivalent assurance practice).
- Qualified accountant - CA (Singapore), ACCA, CPA or equivalent.
- Proven ownership of a full-cycle close and a statutory audit as the
- Experience managing auditors across multiple legal entities or jurisdictions.
- People management experience, or clear evidence you're ready for it.
- Genuinely hands-on. You are comfortable in a reconciliation of tens of thousands of transactions, and you would rather open the file than ask for a summary.
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets. Comfortable working with large transaction datasets.
- Based in Singapore with existing right to work.
Strongly preferred
- Payments, fintech, e-money or financial services experience - particularly merchant settlement, float management or safeguarding.
- Working knowledge of the MAS Payment Services Act, specifically safeguarding requirements.
- SQL, or the willingness to learn it. Much of what you need lives in a data warehouse.
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment where the finance function is being built rather than inherited.
How you work
- Deadlines are commitments. Close dates, filing dates and audit dates do not slip.
- You go to the root cause. A break that reappears next month wasn't fixed.
- You are direct with the CEO - you flag problems early and bring a recommendation with them.
- You are comfortable with ambiguity and with building process where none exists.
WHY THIS ROLE
You will own the entire finance function of a regulated, multi-entity payments business, with direct access to the CEO and real influence over pricing, cost structure and where the business invests. The scope is broader than a Finance Manager role at a larger company, and the pace is faster.
