Job summary

Tata Communications in Singapore is seeking a Field Operations Engineer specializing in Submarine Cable Landing Stations. You will ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of critical submarine cable infrastructure, applying SDH, DWDM and Ethernet expertise to daily tasks and project migrations.

This hands-on role involves testing, fault handling, 24/7 standby duties, and occasional travel to multiple PoPs across Singapore and overseas.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience in Submarine Cable Landing Stations.
• Experience with SDH, DWDM and Ethernet as core technologies.
• Ability to perform L1 fault analysis, testing and incident response.
• Willingness to travel to multiple PoPs in Singapore and overseas.

Responsibilities

• Operations and maintenance support of network equipment including DWDM/SDH/Ethernet/IP/MPLS and SLTEs.
• Resolve L1 faults and coordinate with NOC and service providers for resolution.
• Provisioning and testing of Carrier/Metro Ethernet, SDH/DWDM, IP/MPLS circuits; perform L1/L2 testing.
• Installation and commissioning of transmission, DWDM, IP/MPLS, Ethernet devices per project plans.
• Support submarine cable repair via PFE and COTDR tests; coordinate with repair ships.
• Maintain accurate hardware inventory and OSS/BSS data; ensure audit readiness.
