Job summary

Tata Communications is seeking a Network Operations professional to manage and maintain network tools, equipment, and transmissions. You will assist installations for new and existing customer projects, ensure SLA adherence, and drive incident response in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.

Responsibilities include vulnerability assessments, network security audits, and support for DWDM/SDH backbone networks and submarine landing stations, with occasional travel to PoPs.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining, administering, upgrading, and troubleshooting network tools and equipment
• Assisting with and implementing installations as required for new and existing customer and internal projects including terminations, testing and labelling of transmission mediums
• Ensure SLA are achieved and work proactively to maintain the same
• Conduct vulnerability assessments for networks, servers, applications, and operating systems
• Operations and maintenance support of DWDM/SDH Transmission Equipment, backbone transmission networks, Submarine Cable Landing Stations
• Resolve proactive and reactive L1 faults arising in the network equipment by analysing them in liaison with NOC/service providers
• Analyse problems, perform troubleshooting and incident response on the system and track problems to resolution

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining, administering, upgrading, and troubleshooting network tools and equipment
• Assisting with and implementing installations as required for new and existing customer and internal projects inclusive of
• terminations, testing and labelling of most common transmission mediums, hardware installations etc.
• Ensure SLA are achieved and work proactively to maintain the same.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments for networks, Servers, applications, and operating systems
• Conduct network security audits and scanning on a predetermined basis.
• Compile and track vulnerabilities over time for metrics purposes.
• Timely upgradation of all the tools used and their related documents like SOP's etc.
• Operations and maintenance support of DWDM/SDH Transmission Equipment, backbone transmission networks, Submarine Cable Landing Stations
• Resolve proactive and reactive L1 faults arising in the network equipment or individual customer circuits by analysing them liaising with NOC and/or local service providers
• Analyse problems, perform troubleshooting and incident response on the system, communicate with site technicians and track problems through to resolution
• Service Delivery/Provisioning support of Carrier/Metro Ethernet, SDH/DWDM, IP/MPLS, Voice, International customer / backbone circuits and last mile links through daily interaction with internal Service Delivery teams
• Installation and Commissioning of Transmission, IP/ MPLS, Ethernet, Voice or any other network devices through internal projects and perform upgrades within the existing system as per the project plans and scope of work provided by Engineering/ PM
• Maintain accurate inventory of hardware assets (periodic physical asset audits), upkeep accurate circuits/networks records, timely update of OSS tools, adhere all internal/external audit requirements including the upkeep of the accuracy of all network operations relevant data, follow all internal process/procedures diligently
• All or any other work arising out of the business/operations requirement -not limited to maintaining the sanity/ hygiene of the datacenter environment, movement of hardware assets within Singapore offices, perform network circuits migration, carry out any ad hoc jobs
• Able to lead and drive or contribute to all maintenance/ cost savings activities related to facilities including facility maintenance and thereby ensuring sufficient focus on optimizing cost of facility infrastructure while maintaining reliability both in terms of operations and capital investments
• Requirement to perform rotational shift and weekly 24/7 standby duties. Involves frequent travelling to multiple other PoPs within Singapore. Occasional travel to remote/overseas PoPs with network presence in certain APAC countries may be required

Technical And Behavioural Skills

• A fast learner with multitasking skills and ability to work under pressure and perform given task with minimal to no supervision
• Possess analytical and troubleshooting skills and knowledge that allows to adapt effectively in dealing with unfamiliar issues, challenges and problems
• Good understanding and working knowledge of SDH, DWDM/ submarine, Ethernet technologies and structured cabling. Should have used and familiar with SDH/DWDM, Ethernet, OTDR, COTDR network testing equipment
• Networks Project Implementation experience
• Diligent, responsible, focus-oriented with the ability to complete the work ownership independently
• Self-driven, takes initiatives, highly accountable and manage all the scheduled tasks proactively
• Perseverance personified and not a naysayer in challenging scenarios, displaying a never-say-die attitude with high sense of maturity in all the work situations
