Job summary

DIAMOND GLASS ENTERPRISE PTE. LTD. seeks a motivated Junior Façade Designer to assist in façade drawings, shop drawings and technical documentation for building projects in Singapore.

You will work with senior designers to support design coordination, site activities and timely project deliverables. Requirements include a Diploma in Architecture or Civil/Structural Engineering, 3+ years façade design experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma in Architecture or Civil/Structural Engineering.
• 3+ years of façade design experience preferred; fresh graduates may be considered.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and technical drawing preparation.
• Basic understanding of architectural/structural drawings and detailing.
• Willing to learn curtain walls, glazing systems and façade installation methods.
• Good communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare façade design drawings for curtain walls, glazing and cladding.
• Prepare, revise shop drawings, sections and fabrication details for review.
• Assist with preliminary façade calculations under supervision.
• Utilise AutoCAD to update façade drawings and coordinate with M&E, structural and architectural teams.
• Update design schedules and report design submission status.
• Attend site visits to verify measurements and support RFIs and site issues.
• Highlight drawing discrepancies and report risks to the team.
• Support façade testing and mock-ups and assist in VE proposals.
• Contribute to material take-offs and quantity schedules for quotations.
• Document design changes and Change Orders with proper records.

Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Façade Designer to assist in the preparation of façade design drawings, shop drawings and technical documentation for building projects. The successful candidate will work closely with senior designers and project teams to support design coordination, site activities and the timely completion of project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist in preparing design drawings for curtain walls, window walls, cladding, skylights, canopies and louvres based on architectural and structural drawings.
2. Prepare and revise shop drawings, construction sections, fabrication details and as-built drawings for review by senior designers and submission to consultants or clients.
3. Assist with preliminary façade design calculations, including wind load information, glass thickness, mullion sizing and bracket details, under the guidance of senior designers and Professional Engineers (PE).
4. Utilise AutoCAD to prepare and update façade drawings, coordinate interfaces with M&E, structural and architectural trades, and assist in preparing material specifications for glass, aluminium, sealants and related components.
5. Assist in updating design schedules, monitoring drawing progress and preparing regular reports on design submission status.
6. Participate in site visits to verify measurements, understand installation conditions and assist in resolving technical RFIs and site issues under senior supervision.
7. Assist in identifying drawing discrepancies, design coordination issues and potential technical risks, and report them to the senior designer or project team.
8. Support façade performance testing, including water tightness, air infiltration and acoustic testing, as well as mock-up preparation and laboratory testing activities.
9. Assist in attending tender briefings, conducting site measurements and preparing material take-offs (MTO) and quantity schedules for project quotations.
10. Support the preparation of Value Engineering (VE) proposals by researching alternative materials, components and design details to improve buildability and cost efficiency.
11. Assist in monitoring material usage, wastage and equipment requirements, and maintain accurate records to support project cost control.
12. Assist senior designers in communicating with clients, architects, consultants and main contractors on façade design and technical matters.
13. Coordinate with internal teams, contractors and suppliers to obtain drawings, specifications and technical information required for design preparation.
14. Assist in documenting design changes, Change Orders and Variation Orders (VOs), ensuring revised drawings and supporting documents are properly recorded and communicated.
15. Work closely with senior designers and project teams to improve technical knowledge, drawing accuracy and understanding of façade design and construction methods.
16. Demonstrate good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to follow instructions, meet project deadlines and respond promptly to assigned technical tasks.

Requirements

• Min. Diploma in Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 3 years or more of relevant façade design experience preferred; fresh graduates may be considered.
• Basic to good proficiency in AutoCAD and preparation of technical drawings.
• Basic understanding of architectural and structural drawings, construction detailing and façade systems.
• Willingness to learn about curtain walls, aluminium cladding, glazing systems and façade installation methods.
• Good attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions and drawing standards.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior designers, consultants, contractors and project teams.
• Willingness to attend site visits and support project-related activities.
• Knowledge of façade design software, 3D modelling or BIM tools will be an advantage.
