Job summary

Udacity is seeking an External Contractor - Mentor for the Data Product Manager track. You will provide online technical support, host weekly live sessions, and assist learners with course material. Fluency in English and 7+ years of experience or a master’s degree are required.

Remote, part‑time role with flexible scheduling and international student community involvement. Graduate from a Udacity Nanodegree is a plus; teaching or public speaking experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of statistics, data wrangling, visualization, and product KPIs.
• Experience with data pipelines, modeling, and storage concepts.

• Basic SQL knowledge is expected.
• Graduate from a Udacity Nanodegree is a plus.
• Experience teaching or public speaking is preferred.

Position Overview

Mentors are industry professionals who provide world-class technical support to our learners in their Nanodegree journey. All our mentors are handpicked through a rigorous selection process so that we can truly be #studentfirst. As a mentor, you will be meeting virtually on a weekly basis with your students for community support, live office hours and other activities.

Required skills/qualifications:

• Fluency in English both written and spoken
• Eligibility Requirements: Mentors must have at least 7 years of industry experience or a master’s degree in the relevant field.
• Technical competence: Statistical Foundations, Data Wrangling, Visualization & Storytelling, Product KPIs, Data Pipeline, Data Modeling & Storage, Strong understanding of Experiment Design (A/B Testing, Multivariate) and statistical inference, product management frameworks (e.g., RICE, Iterative Design). Product Development, Rapid Prototyping, User-Centered Design, Product Strategy, Go-To-Market Strategy, Basic knowledge of SQL.
• Graduate from a Udacity Nanodegree Program is an added plus
• Experience teaching technical concepts and public speaking, organizing technical talks, or webinars
• Positive character, trusted by the students, creating emotional ties in the group
• Flexibility at their current job to take this challenge part‑time as an external contractor

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support for students over an online community forum
• Answer questions around course content over the forum and facilitate content for students who get stuck in learning
• Host one weekly live virtual session to offer direct, real‑time support to students.
• Redirect learners to appropriate support channels and add escalated issues to the Mentor Operations team when needed
