Job summary

Straits Financial Group in Singapore seeks a Senior Executive/Executive to join the Clearing Operations & Settlements Department. You will handle post-trade processing, clearing, settlements and reconciliations for Exchange Traded Derivatives, OTC Margin Forex and Commodities, reporting to the Operations Team Lead.

The role requires 1–2 years in operations, with a Diploma in Banking & Finance, Business or Accounting, and Mandarin proficiency to liaise with Chinese associates.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Banking & Finance, Business or Accounting.
• 1–2 years in Operations, clearing, post-trade processing, settlements and reconciliations.
• Brokerage experience with Exchange Clearing Membership is a plus.
• Mandarin proficiency required to liaise with Chinese associates.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily operational activities for HQ and Singapore subsidiaries, ensuring trades and journals are booked accurately.
• Ensure customer statements are accurate and issued promptly; monitor settlements and resolve issues.
• Reconcile trades, positions and cash with brokers/counterparties; handle transfer requests and client enquiries.
• Participate in UAT for system enhancements or migrations and drive process improvements for automation.

Job description

Headquartered in Singapore with presence in the United States and Indonesia, Straits Financial serves as the financial services arm of the CWT Group, a global leading provider of integrated logistics and financial services. We provide a fully-integrated service for our clients to access the financial and commodity derivative markets and will continue to expand into key financial and commodity markets.

We are looking for Senior Executive/Executive to join the Clearing Operations & Settlements Department to perform post trade processing, clearing, settlements and reconciliation for Exchange Traded Derivatives, OTC Margin Forex and Commodities as well as any new Business Lines. The incumbent will report to Operations Team Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily operational activities for HQ and other Singapore subsidiaries, namely:
  • Ensure trades & journals are booked/loaded in back-office system accurately and promptly for processing.
  • Ensure customers statements are accurate and issued on a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely settlements and resolve any transactional or settlement issues.
  • Perform trade, position and equity reconciliation between internal system against brokers/ counterparties and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Coordinate and process requests for trade/position transfers, give-out/Give-in, attend to client or sales team enquiries and handle audit confirmations etc
  • Management reporting on daily volume and revenue.
• Update & maintain daily broking blotter & commission records
• Initiate solutions and active communications with relevant stakeholders or counterparties to remediate /resolve problems pertaining to trades, fee/commission or cash
• Participate in User Acceptance Testing of any system enhancement and/or for system migration
• Work with team members to identify process improvement points and implement ideas/solutions to achieve process automation and efficiency.

Requirements:

• Minimum Diploma in Banking & Finance, Business or Accounting.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Operations, handling clearing, post trade processing, settlements and reconciliations.
• Prior experience in brokerage houses with Exchange Clearing Membership will be an advantage
• Demonstrate good understanding of Exchange traded Futures & Options and OTC Margin Forex.
• Meticulous and a fast learner with good problem-solving skills.
• Able to adapt to a fast-paced operational environment.
• Self-motivated and a good team player with positive and can-do attitude.
• Must be able to converse in mandarin due to need to liaise with Chinese Associates.
• Must be able to work on Singapore public holidays and shift work.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
