Job summary

BAGADIYA BROTHERS (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced professional for chartering and operations in Singapore. The role covers fixing vessels for dry bulk cargoes and overseeing end-to-end operations until redelivery, including settlement with owners.

Responsibilities include vessel fixing across cape to handy sizes, monitoring port conditions, and maintaining market intelligence. Strong emphasis on risk management, contract terms, and coordination with management and owners.

Qualifications

• Degree in Maritime studies or equivalent for commercial chartering and operations.
• 3-5 years of experience in a similar role with shipper / ship operator's office.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Fix cape, panamax, supramax, handy vessels as per requirement in coordination with management.
• Stay updated with port information like drafts, berths, crane facilities, load/discharge performance.
• Monitor vessel performance vs warranties; compare freight vs estimates to prevent issues.
• Update management with market information, trends, hire and bunker market.
• Review and implement charter party terms to minimize risks/liabilities.
• Ensure smooth operations: voyage instructions, freight paperwork, daily vessel reports.
• Coordinate bunkering; estimate bunker needs and arrange with suppliers.
• Prepare running and final hire statements and settlements with owners.
• Prepare and settle lay time; collect port DA estimates and final DA checks.
• Nominate vessels to PNI; coordinate disputes with management and PNI.
• Appoint weather routing agencies; review interim/final performance reports.
• Maintain relations with owners, brokers, port agents, shippers, charterers, bunkers, weather agencies.
• Adapt to evolving chartering practices, regulations, tools and technology.
• Risk management; hedging and derivative trading of bunkers/FFAs; business development.

We are part of a large trading house with headquarters in India and dealing into dry bulk commodities like iron ore fines, coal and various food commodity shipments mostly on India to China/Malaysia/Korea/Indonesia, India-West Africa, RBCT-India routes. We are looking for suitable candidates to strengthen our senior team of ship chartering and operations

Executive / Manager / Senior Manager - Chartering and Operations

This position will be based at Singapore reporting to the executive director. Depending on the position hired for, recruits shall be responsible for fixing vessels on time/voyage charter for dry bulk cargoes and360 degree of operations till redelivery of vessel and settlement with owners. We are looking for following main skills and experience for the above positions

Responsibilities

• Fix cape, panamax, supramax, handy vessels as per requirement time to time in close coordination with management


• Stay updated with vital info. for ports visited such as drafts, berths, priorities, crane/grab facilities, load/discharge performances, congestions, restrictions etc.


• Monitor and review performance of the vessels against warranties and compare actual deviation from estimated freight to take preventive measures


• Update management with market information regularly including competition, trends, hire and bunker market


• Continuous review and implementation of proper charter party terms to minimize risks / liabilities


• Ensure smooth operations including - voyage instructions, freight tax paperwork, daily vessel reports, berthing, loading, discharging updates, on-hire and off hire survey, sailing, bad weather delays, breakdown, LOI, Stowage, dead freight etc


• Estimate bunker requirement and coordinate for bunkering in coordination


• Preparation of running and final hire statements and settlements with owners


• Preparation and settlement of lay time


• Collect port DA estimate, disbursal and checking of final DA


• Nominate vessels to PNI and coordinate closely with management and PNI for dispute matters


• Appoint weather routing agencies, review interim and final performance reports


• Maintain and develop good relations with owners, operators, brokers, port agents, shippers, charterers, bunker suppliers, weather agencies, PNI etc.


• Maintain and adapt with evolving business practices, regulations, tools and technology in the ship chartering business

Requirements
