Job summary

Mandai Wildlife Group is seeking an experienced horticulture professional to support the handover of Rainforest Wild Adventure East, oversee daily operations, and coordinate with internal teams and external suppliers. The role requires proactive planning, strong English communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic outdoor environment.

The ideal candidate will have a diploma or degree in plant or environmental sciences, relevant local experience, and willingness to rotate

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Plant Science, Botany, Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Forestry Science, Environmental Science Management or equivalent.
• 1 year relevant local experience for degree holder or 3 years for diploma holders.
• CPH or ISA Arborist certification will be an advantage.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong communication and negotiation with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assist Horti Team to oversee daily horticulture operations and maximize resources.
• Coordinate with suppliers for diverse plants and landscape materials.
• Plan ad hoc requests within stipulated time without affecting maintenance schedule.
• Prepare purchase requisitions and SAP-related processes.
• Present proposals and initiatives in meetings as required.
• Participate in site meetings with departments/vendors/authorities as needed.

Job description

Mandai Wildlife Group is the steward of Mandai Wildlife Reserve, a unique wildlife and nature destination in Singapore that is home to world-renown wildlife parks which connect visitors to the fascinating world of wildlife. The Group is driving an exciting rejuvenation plan at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, adjacent to Singapore's Central Catchment Nature Reserve, that will integrate five wildlife parks with distinctive nature-based experiences, green public spaces and an eco-friendly resort.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Facilitate Horticulture Department in taking over/ handing over of Rainforest Wild Adventure East (RFS) from Development Team.
• Assist Horti Team to oversee daily horticulture operations and maximize resources to achieve better efficiency and productivity.
• Provide advice and guidance to the term contractor to ensure quality and timely completion of maintenance works.
• Coordinate with relevant internal and external stakeholders for day to day operations and plan for ad hoc request within the stipulated time without affecting original maintenance schedule.
• Liaise with various suppliers ensuring diverse & quality supply of diverse plants & landscape materials.
• Control & enforce departmental policies aligned with organization's vision, mission and values.
• Coordinate with workers for smooth running of new plant nursery & productive in plant propagations for species conservations etc.
• Backup for Assistant Manager role in ensuring business continuity.
• Present proposal/ job completion, initiatives, etc. in meetings, as and when required.
• Participate in site meetings with various departments/ vendors/ consultants, authorities, etc. as and when required.
• Initiate & prepare necessary purchase requisition, goods receipt, reservation, etc. including Capex & Opex through SAP system.
• Call open Request for Quotation (RFQ) for minor works via SESAMi and put up award recommendation.
• Carrying out horticulture operations to meet the original landscape design intent.
• Monitor and coordinate with the Development Team for DLP management and record defects for timely clearance inspection leading the smooth hand over / take over
• Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by Supervisor

Job Requirements:

• Min. recognized Diploma or Degree in Plant Science, Botany, Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Forestry Science, Environmental Science Management or its equivalent.
• At least 1 year relevant local experience for Degree holder or 3 years experience for Diploma holders.
• Accredited as Certified Practicing Horticulturist (CPH) or ISA Certified Arborist will be an advantage.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills with various stakeholders for collaboration to achieve common goal.
• Proactive, positive mindset and able to work independently.
• Able to plan ahead with good sense of urgency, ownership and responsibility.

• Able to rotate as Horticulture Duty Officer on Sat or Sun
