Job summary

UBS is seeking an ETF Capital Markets Specialist in APAC to support ETF trading, educate clients on industry practices, and ensure best execution in a fast-paced, international environment. Based in Singapore or Hong Kong, you will work with a diverse team of experts to enhance primary market activities for UBS ETFs.

You will build and maintain relationships with market makers, APs, exchanges and broker dealers, coordinate create-redeem flows, and drive project initiatives to improve NAV spreads

Qualifications

• 7+ years’ experience in asset management or related passive investments field.
• Master’s degree in mathematics, economics or finance.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to internal and external audiences.
• Proficiency with programming languages and data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, Matlab).

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with ETF trading and education to achieve best execution.
• Provide ongoing education and updates on investment products to clients and colleagues.
• Act as primary contact for broker dealers, market makers, and exchanges for ETF primary trading.

If so, we are looking for an ETF Capital Markets Specialist in the APAC region to:

• assist clients with ETF trading and provide education about industry practices to achieve best execution.
• provide clients and prospects, internal and external client facing salespeople and/or intermediaries with ongoing education, updates, and facts about our investment products.
• act as the primary contact for broker dealers, market makers, stock exchanges and teams internally for all aspect of primary trading of UBS ETFs.
• maintain relationships with Market Makers, Authorised Participants and ETF Sales/Trading Desks.
• act as a conduit between the Portfolio Management team and the Authorised Participants to ensure a smooth create-redeem process.
• aid on strategic project initiatives, which will redefine the Primary Market operating model.
• conduct quantitative data analysis to facilitate business decision making and workflow improvements, using analytical tools and languages (e.g., SQL, Python, VBA).

The team

You will be working in the ETF Capital Markets team and be based in either Hong Kong or Singapore. We are a dedicated team of Subject Matter Experts with an open corporate culture that values individual contributions and encourages proactive input and feedback. UBS ETFs is one the fastest growing scale ETF Issuers in the UCITS space with ambitious plans for the APAC region.

The ETF Capital Markets team has two main functions.

First, we support our Sales colleagues and Clients on how, when and with whom to trade ETFs. Trading of the ETF wrapper can be a complex topic and it is our responsibility to ensure our clients have a positive experience in trading UBS ETFs as clients do not trade with the Fund Sponsor in the primary market but rather in the secondary market either on the Stock Exchange, on Multi-Lateral Trading Facilities (Bloomberg RFQE or Tradeweb) or OTC via the Systematic Internaliser regime. With ETFs clients are in control of when they trade, whether they trade on risk or versus NAV and which brokers they select as part of their dealing process so our role as a neutral advisor is critical. ETFs benefit from certainty of execution so clients should never be surprised in the trading process.

Second, we work closely with our colleagues in Portfolio Management to improve the architecture of our ETFs so our clients can enjoy the tightest possible secondary market bid ask spreads for our products. The team engages in multiple projects within the Investment organisation to improve our NAV spreads. We are responsible for managing the strategic relationship with our Authorised Participant partners, Exchanges, Multi-Lateral Trading Facilities and ensuring an efficient primary market ecosystem.

Your Skills And Experience

• ideally 7+ years’ experience in asset management or related passive investments field.
• master’s degree or equivalent, with a focus on mathematics, economics or finance.
• a gift for using numerical analysis, statistics and financial mathematics to solve practical problems.
• proven ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple and effective manner, both in written and oral form (to internal / external audiences).
• strong communicator with a collaborative personality.
• a structured work style, confidently working autonomously, diligent and detail oriented.
• experience with high-level programming language and software know-how (e.g. R, Matlab, Python, etc.).
• strong command of Microsoft Excel, Bloomberg experience an advantage. Fluent in English, additional language skills in Mandarin & Cantonese would be advantageous.
