Job description

We are seeking a qualified Environmental Control Officer to oversee and enforce environmental compliance for large-scale infrastructure projects. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining environmental management standards, reducing potential environmental impacts, and ensuring all works meet the required regulations and approvals.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee site activities to ensure full compliance with the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and take prompt action to address non-compliance.
  • Work to minimise environmental impact across all project operations.
  • Support the project team in securing all necessary environmental permits and approvals.
  • Assess and endorse environmental performance goals, while recommending practical, sustainable solutions.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and comprehensive audits.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection checklists to support monitoring efforts.
  • Keep detailed records of environmental matters, incidents, and corrective actions, including issuing on-the-spot penalties where applicable.
  • Maintain a log of public feedback, recording all complaints and community observations.
Job Requirements:
  • Must hold current registration as an Environmental Control Officer (ECO) with the National Environment Agency (NEA).
  • At least 2 years of hands-on construction experience in environmental compliance or a related field.
