About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced English Teacher to provide engaging, structured and examination-focused lessons for students preparing for the GCE O-Level English Language examination. The teacher will be responsible for developing students' English language proficiency, examination techniques and confidence across all key components of the syllabus.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and conduct effective English lessons aligned with the GCE O-Level English Language syllabus
• Teach students across key areas including Reading Comprehension, Visual Text Comprehension, Writing Skills, Situational Writing, Continuous Writing, Grammar and Vocabulary, Editing, Listening Comprehension, and Oral Communication
• Explain language concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods according to students' abilities and learning needs
• Develop students' critical thinking, comprehension, vocabulary and communication skills
• Incorporate relevant examination techniques and strategies into lessons
• Prepare students systematically for school examinations and the GCE O-Level English examination
• Familiarise students with examination formats, question types, marking requirements and assessment objectives
• Train students in effective answering techniques, time management and examination strategies
• Mark and provide constructive feedback on students' assignments, essays, comprehension exercises and examination papers
• Track individual student progress and maintain appropriate records

About you

• Degree/Diploma in English, Education, Linguistics or a related field preferred
• Teaching or tutoring experience, preferably with Singapore GCE O-Level English students
• Strong knowledge of the O-Level English Language syllabus and examination format
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to explain complex language concepts in a clear and engaging manner
• Patient, responsible and passionate about helping students improve
• Experience preparing students for national examinations will be an advantage
