Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions is seeking an Engineering Project Manager in Singapore to drive high-visibility localization and expansion projects. You will scope, plan, and execute engineering programs, coordinating Global Engineering with regional operations to meet business milestones.

The role requires 8+ years in project management, a strong engineering background, and ability to lead cross-functional teams while managing budget, schedule, and risk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in project management including planning, resource negotiation, and driving multiple complex projects.
• PMP certification or equivalent is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Experience managing factory startup/expansion projects and technology development projects.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end scoping, planning, management, and execution of engineering projects focused on tech transfer and localization of high-volume manufacturing processes, including factory expansion and facilitation.
• Refining design packages from Global Engineering to generate factory specifications.
• Accountability for overall schedule, scope, and budget, plus generating project progress reports.
• Assembling project teams, defining plans and driving progress across varied project-type frameworks; leading cross-functional collaboration.
• Cost, time, and resource planning with external vendors, general contractors, and internal engineering managers; assessing risks and defining countermeasures.
• Manage capital and operating expenses to budget; drive design reviews for first-time-right excellence.
• Drive regulatory compliance through permitting, equipment design/testing, hazardous materials handling, and safety-focused design considerations.
• Collaborate globally with Engineering, Factory Operations, Continuous Improvement, Product Management, R&D PMO, and third-party support to ensure expert input.
• Lead cross-functional team meetings and address bottlenecks and resource balancing.

Who are we looking for?

A high-impact individual contributor, the work that this person will be responsible and accountable for will be directly informational to Global Engineering and Regional Operations senior leadership to decide upon and drive commitments and execution of key strategic localization and expansion projects in Southeast Asia, driving impact through executing projects. The incumbent will plan and execute high visibility projects such as product localization and expansion projects as required to meet business needs.

The Engineering Project Manager will thoroughly scope, plan, drive, and successfully execute high priority engineering projects within the global engineering project funnel. The ideal candidate will have meticulous attention to detail, a tenacity to adhere to commitments, and extensive experience in project management of multiple project types using project management tools. Able to drive influence and accountability outside of direct managerial influence, adept at connecting individual actions and accountabilities to the high level project and defined business objectives.

What will you be doing?

• -Overall responsibility for end-to-end scoping, planning, management, and execution of engineering projects, heavily focused on tech transfer and localization of HVM processes, inclusive of factory expansion and facilitization.
• -Receiving and refining design packages from Global Engineering to generate factory spec.
• -Accountability to overall schedule, to scope, and within spend, and generating project progress reports.
• -Responsibility for assembling project teams, defining plans and driving progress within varied project-type frameworks, reporting, ultimately leading cross-functional team efforts to completion.
• -Carry out cost, time, and resource planning with both external vendors, general contractors, and internal engineering managers to ensure delivery and intersection with business needs including assessing project risks and define countermeasures well in advance to mitigate impact.
• -Manage capital and operating expenses to budget, strictly monitoring impacts of scope or design changes where necessary, and driving team to thorough design reviews for first time right excellence.
• -Drive all aspects of regulatory compliance through permitting, equipment design and testing, hazardous materials handling, and other safety-focused design considerations with a forward looking, risk mitigation mentality.
• -Work on a global level within the Global Engineering team, and alongside local Factory Operations Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Product Management, R&D PMO, and third party support to ensure the relevant expertise is employed in defining, planning, and executing projects across various timescales.
• -Lead cross functional team meetings, facilitate communication up down and across, work with managers to address bottlenecks and resource balancing issues.

Who are You?

• -Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or other related applied technical field.
• -PMP certification or equivalent will be an added advantage for the role but not a mandatory requirement.
• -8+ years experience project management including planning, negotiating resources, driving multiple complex projects forward concurrently, leading cross functional teams without direct line management authority

What competencies will you need?

• -Extensive knowledge of project management strategies, tools, and operational approaches to appropriately guide both short- and long-term projects, including projects requiring iterative testing or ambiguous pathways to success
• -Experience in management of factory startup & expansion projects and/or technology development projects. Thoroughly capable with standard project management software, tools, and methods.
• -Outcome-oriented, an assertive and resilient team player able to operate within a high-performance cross-cultural team.
• -Confident and purposeful approach, paired with strong communication skills and social skills.
• -Customer-needs understanding, commitment to quality service and continuous improvement.
• -Approximate frequency of travel expected to be 25% with potential heavier travel intermittently required during critical periods of tech transfer or factory startup, primarily within South and Southeast Asia. Some work outside of standard business hours is expected to support Global operations.
