Job summary

ST Engineering seeks a Welding Engineer to draft, review, and qualify welding procedure specifications and qualification records for marine and refinery projects. You will design welding processes across carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and exotic alloys using SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW while ensuring compliance with ASME/AWS/ISO/API standards.

You will coordinate NDT methods (RT/UT/MT/PT/VT), investigate weld failures through root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive

Qualifications

• Knowledge of international codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ISO, API).
• Familiarity with classification requirements and shipbuilding standards.
• Experience in shipboard piping systems design and related control systems.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and qualify WPS, PQR, and WPQR.
• Design welding processes for carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and alloys using SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, AWS, ISO and API standards.
• Coordinate and interpret NDT methods (RT, UT, MT, PT, VT).
• Investigate weld failures via RCA and implement CAPA actions.
• Participate in department safety work plan and regulatory activities.

Job description

• Draft, review, and qualify WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), PQR (Procedure Qualification Records), and WPQR.
• Design welding processes for various metals (carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and exotic alloys) using techniques like SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW

Quality:

• Enforce compliance with international standards and codes such as ASME, AWS, ISO, and API.
• Coordinate and interpret NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods including RT, UT, MT, PT, and VT.
• Investigate weld failures, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

Safety:

• Participate in department safety work plan.
• Conduct activities which met regulatory requirements.
• Attend VSCC meetings if necessary.

Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical or Marine engineering.
• Work experience in Marine industry or Refinery Piping works preferably 4 – 5 years
• Knowledge of Classification requirements; Ship Building Stds.
• Knowledge of Shipboard Piping Systems Design.
• Knowledge of piping systems, control system and their classification requirements.
• AWS Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
