Job summary

Coastal Contracts Berhad is looking for a Document Controller/Project Engineer in Singapore. In this role, you will develop and maintain document control procedures for vessel construction and conversion projects, collaborate with teams, and ensure timely processing of documentation.

Job description

As a Document Controller/ Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the following duties:

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Report to the assigned Supervisor/Manager ofCoastal Dynamic Pte Ltd.
    Develop, implement, and maintain document control procedures for vessel construction and conversion projects.
  • Ensure timely and efficient processing, tracking, and turnaround of all project documentation, both internal and external.
  • Manage the preparation and close-out of project documentation, including final handover upon vessel delivery. (Short-term travel may be required.)
  • Support the Supervisor/Manager in developing project-specific procedures, workflows, and reporting formats to meet project requirements.
  • Ensure all drawings and documents are issued, reviewed, and distributed in a controlled manner within agreed timelines, including preparation and issuance of work packs.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining document distribution matrices to ensure proper dissemination of project information.
  • Maintain accurate document registers and implement effective filing and archiving systems.
  • To manage, organise, and update document filing within the “Technical” folder on the company server.
  • To create, update, and maintain all relevant registers within the “Technical” folder.
  • To review, update, and revise technical bid documents before submission, as required.
  • To act on behalf of the reporting Manager to follow up and coordinate assigned matters in accordance with given instructions.
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Company from time to time.
  • Relevant experience in document control for vessel construction projects is preferred; fresh graduates with relevant qualifications are also encouraged to apply.
  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good knowledge of electronic document management systems (EDMS).
  • Familiarity with technical documentation, including applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Document Control Centre (DCC) practices.
  • Experience in engineering and design document control.
  • Experience in document control for construction, conversion, and installation works.
  • Independent, proactive, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to communicate in Chinese is an added advantage due to the need to coordinate with Chinese-speaking stakeholders, vendors, and overseas project teams.
  • Willingness to be stationed in various locations within China for short-term assignments.
  • Willingness to travel or be deployed overseas for short-term project assignments when required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing assigned responsibilities.
  • Candidates should be flexible and able to accommodate short-notice travel when required.
