Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Wholesale Trade Director to lead the company’s wholesale trading operations, business development and financial management. The role involves overseeing supplier relationships, international trade activities, procurement, sales strategy and operational performance to support sustainable business growth.

The successful candidate will apply strong commercial, financial and operational expertise to optimise trading margins, manage cashflow, strengthen trade financing arrangements and expand business opportunities across domestic and international markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the company’s wholesale trading operations, including procurement, supplier management, sales, distribution and international trade activities.
• Develop and implement business strategies to expand wholesale operations, increase revenue and improve profitability.
• Identify new markets, suppliers, customers and strategic business partnerships to support business expansion.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, cash flow management and working capital allocation to ensure efficient use of company resources.
• Manage banking relationships, trade financing facilities and financial documentation supporting wholesale and cross-border transactions.
• Monitor foreign exchange exposure and develop strategies to mitigate currency risks and protect trading margins.
• Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers, customers and business partners to optimise pricing, payment terms and overall profitability.
• Oversee import and export documentation, trade transactions and coordination with relevant logistics and business partners.
• Monitor market trends, product demand, pricing movements and competitive developments to inform commercial decisions.
• Ensure proper financial records, internal controls and compliance with applicable trade, tax and regulatory requirements.
• Establish operational procedures and performance indicators to improve efficiency, cost control and business performance.
• Report on business performance, financial results, market opportunities and strategic priorities to the company’s management.

Requirements

• Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, International Trade, Management or a related discipline.
• Substantial experience in wholesale trading, international trade, financial management or business operations.
• Strong understanding of procurement, supplier management, commercial negotiations and trading operations.
• Experience in financial planning, treasury management, cash flow optimisation and working capital management.
• Knowledge of import and export transactions, trade financing and cross-border business operations.
• Strong commercial and financial analytical skills, including the ability to assess market opportunities and manage business risks.
• Demonstrated ability to develop business relationships and drive revenue growth.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, negotiation and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple business functions and work effectively with suppliers, customers, banks and other stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Experience managing wholesale trading or export businesses across multiple markets.
• Experience in international sourcing, distribution and cross-border commercial transactions.
• Familiarity with foreign exchange management, banking facilities and trade finance documentation.
• Experience overseeing tax compliance, financial reporting and coordination with external professional advisers.
• A proven track record in business development, profitability improvement and operational management.

Educational Background

A degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, International Trade, Management or a related field is required. Relevant professional experience in wholesale trading, financial management, international business operations and commercial development will be an advantage.
