Job summary

AMPHENOL FCI CONNECTORS SINGAPORE PTE. LTD. seeks a Product Design Engineer to contribute to new product development and design improvements for connector solutions.

You will translate customer requirements into robust designs and collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability. You will lead design activities, perform design analyses, and validate designs to meet international standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or other relevant discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of product design development experience.
• Experience in interconnects design industry is desirable; leadership for senior staff.
• Proficient with Mechanical Design and Solid Mechanics theory.
• Familiar with CAD/CAE tools: Creo/ANSYS.
• Familiar with engineering drawing standards.
• Experience with connector applications, plastics, insert-molding, stamping processes is preferred.

• Participate in development of new products and product improvements with disciplined focus in product engineering design of connector solution.


• Design and develop quality product and ensuring manufacturability with other engineering functions involved in product development.


• Perform product design activity which includes translating customer requirements into product drawings and product specification, design analysis and verification, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, etc.


• Ensure product designs are validated per customer requirements, respecting international industry standards.


• Take Project Leadership role, define and reconcile technical DFM with Process Design team


• Responsible for product engineering of responsible product line; and be part of integrated team anticipating and resolving customer dissatisfaction.


• Improve product designs to bring about reduction in manufacturing cost.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor/ Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or other relevant discipline


• Minimum 3 years of product design development experience with excellent grasp of Engineering and Design principles.


• Experience in interconnects design industry is desirable. Senior/Staff position requires excellent design leadership skills and relevant product life-cycle knowledge.


• Proficient with Mechanical Design, Solid Mechanics theory and its application to product design


• Familiar with CAD/CAE tool: Pro-Engineer CREO/ANSYS


• Familiar with engineering drawing standards


• Working knowledge of connector application, plastic technology, insert-molding, stamping processes is preferred
