Job summary

ALPHAEUS PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced Data Centre Operations Lead in Singapore. You will oversee daily data centre activities, supervise staff rosters, and manage infrastructure monitoring, backups, and escalation processes to meet service levels.

You will coordinate incident resolution with infrastructure teams, vendors and partners, maintain records and SOPs, and ensure secure access controls and accurate physical inventories across the centre.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in data centre operations with team leadership.
• Practical knowledge of infrastructure monitoring and SLA-based delivery.
• Experience with enterprise backup operations and off-site media handling.
• Familiarity with backup platforms such as Veritas NetBackup.
• Understanding of monitoring tools and event escalation processes.
• ITIL Foundation knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily data centre operations and supervise the team shifts.
• Schedule monthly duty rosters and monitor performance.
• Oversee monitoring of network, servers, applications, and infra alerts.
• Monitor backups and coordinate tape handling and off-site prep.
• Maintain incident logs and coordinate fault resolution with teams and vendors.
• Track services across Windows, SQL, SAP and web apps and escalate as needed.
• Coordinate remote hands activities for server and network restarts.
• Maintain SOPs, rack diagrams, inventories and records.
• Oversee access control, rack keys, labeling and decommissioning records.
• Monitor facility alerts for cooling, UPS, water and fire alarms; escalate when needed.
• Support audits and report incidents, SLAs and outstanding issues.
• Ensure proper shift handovers and follow-up on unresolved incidents.

Job Summary

Lead daily data centre operations, including team scheduling, infrastructure monitoring, backup operations and incident escalation. Ensure operational activities follow established procedures and meet agreed service levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise data centre operations personnel, prepare monthly duty rosters and monitor team performance.
• Oversee monitoring of network, server, application and infrastructure alerts, ensuring timely response and escalation.
• Monitor scheduled backup jobs using Veritas NetBackup or equivalent enterprise backup tools.
• Coordinate backup tape handling, media library activities and off-site tape preparation according to established procedures.
• Maintain incident logs and coordinate fault resolution with infrastructure teams, vendors and service partners.
• Monitor operational jobs and services across enterprise environments, including Windows services, SQL, SAP and web applications.
• Coordinate authorised remote hands activities, including server and network equipment restarts.
• Maintain operating procedures, rack diagrams, equipment inventories and operational records.
• Oversee visitor access, rack key controls, equipment labelling and hardware decommissioning records.
• Monitor facility alerts relating to cooling, UPS, water detection and fire alarm systems, escalating abnormalities to the responsible teams.
• Support audits and report operational incidents, service-level performance and outstanding issues to management.
• Ensure complete shift handovers and follow-up on unresolved incidents.

Requirements

• Relevant experience in data centre operations, including team supervision or shift leadership.
• Practical experience in infrastructure monitoring, incident escalation and SLA-based service delivery.
• Experience with enterprise backup operations, including backup job monitoring, tape handling and off-site media preparation.
• Familiarity with Veritas NetBackup or equivalent backup platforms.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, IBM Tivoli or equivalent platforms.
• Ability to maintain SOPs, incident records, rack diagrams and audit documentation.
• Understanding of data centre access controls, equipment inventory and remote hands procedures.
• Ability to coordinate technical issues with infrastructure teams and external vendors.
• ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent knowledge of IT service management practices would be an advantage.
