Job summary

ByteDance’s Data Center Development team in Asia Pacific seeks a Data Center Security Program Manager to lead security for large-scale data center projects, focusing on access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection across APAC. You will collaborate with PMs, vendors, and design teams to ensure security standards and timely delivery.

This role requires hands-on vendor experience, strong stakeholder management, and knowledge of data center security design standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years direct hands-on experience as a security vendor for Enterprise Video Surveillance and Access Control.
• At least 1 year of experience in managing security vendors as an end user or client.
• Familiarity with physical security design standards for data centers in APAC region.
• Must possess integrity and accountability, and the ability to lead change without authority.
• Preferred: experience with critical infrastructure projects. Certification in PMP will be a plus. Certification in CPP or familiarity with physical security operations will be a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure on-time delivery of large-scale data center security projects across the APAC region (Access Control, Intrusion Detection, Video Surveillance).
• Coordinate with data center PMs to align security installation schedules with delivery timelines.
• Manage vendors for installation, programming and testing of security systems.
• Monitor security infrastructure installation progress with data center providers.
• Review security designs with ByteDance design managers for standards compliance.
• Support expansion into new countries with site surveys and vendor onboarding.
• Drive security program initiatives, including design standards, cost optimization, and roadmaps.
• Lead construction EHS initiatives and regular site walks as part of overall security supervision.

Responsibilities

ByteDance Data Center Development team is responsible for building Data Center and Network in the Asia Pacific region. Our work involves, but is not limited to, data center innovation, implementing advanced technologies and renewable energy to achieve carbon-neutrality, rapid project delivery, capacity planning, process and risk control, cost management, etc. Our objective is to provide ByteDance with efficient Data Center infrastructure services to support our business growth. The Global Delivery Management team is mainly responsible for site selection, acquisition, and project delivery.

• Ensure on-time delivery of multiple large-scale data center projects for Access Control System, Intrusion Detection Systems, and Video Surveillance System across the APAC region
• Work hand-in-hand with data center project managers in aligning security installation schedules and progress to support delivery timeline
• Manage vendors that perform Enterprise Access Control and Video Surveillance system installation, programming and testing
• Guide ByteDance site team to regularly monitor security infrastructure installation progress by data center providers
• Partner closely with ByteDance design managers in reviewing security design of the data centers, as well as compliance of standards and specifications
• Support the ByteDance commercial team in works related to expansion into new countries, such as site survey, security vendor RFP and onboarding, etc
• Collaborate with cross-department teams to align on future security architecture and retrofit works, with occasional syncs during the US timezones
• Drive and own department's security program initiatives such as review of security design standards, design documentation, cost optimization, system technology development roadmap, knowledge sharing of security technology, etc
• Concurrently lead construction EHS initiatives and regular site walks, as part of overall supervision of site security and safety

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualification(s)- Bachelor’s in Engineering or other IT/security technology related qualifications (e.g. PSP, CSPM or product-specific certifications)
• At least 3 years of direct hands-on experience as a security vendor in the implementation of Enterprise Video Surveillance and Access Control Systems
• At least 1 year of experience in managing security vendors as an end user or client role
• Familiarity with physical security design standards for data centers in APAC region
• Must possess a high degree of integrity and accountability, as well as the ability to lead and inspire change even without authority
• Demonstrate stakeholder management during times of conflicting prioritiesPreferred Qualification(s)- Experience with critical infrastructure projects
• Certification in PMP will be a plus
• Certification in CPP or familiarity with physical security operations in data centers will be a plus
• Basic knowledge of IP networking will be a plus
