Job summary

Ensoft Consulting Pte Ltd is seeking a hands-on Database Administrator to support mission-critical MSSQL and MongoDB systems in a secure environment. This role centers on 24/7 production stability, high availability, incident response, and disaster recovery readiness.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of DBA experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server (Always On, HA, Performance Tuning).
• MongoDB (Replica Sets, Backup/Restore).
• Experience supporting 24/7 mission-critical systems.
• Experience handling Severity 1 production incidents.

Responsibilities

• 24/7 Production Database Operations: Provide L2/L3 support for MSSQL and MongoDB in Production and DR environments.
• Participate in standby/on-call roster for critical incidents.
• Troubleshoot and resolve outages, Always On failover issues, blocking/divdeadlocks, performance bottlenecks, storage/IOPS constraints.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
• High Availability & Reliability Management for MSSQL (Always On, backups, patching) and MongoDB (Replica Sets, failover, backups).
• Performance & Capacity Management: health checks, query plans, indexing, tuning, capacity forecasting.
• Security & Compliance (Government Environment): ensure security hardening, RBAC, auditing, and audit readiness.

Job Requirements

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands‑on Operations DBA to support the mission‑critical system operating in a secure environment.

This role focuses primarily on Production (Day 2) stability, high availability, incident response, performance tuning, and disaster recovery readiness for Microsoft SQL Server and MongoDB platforms supporting 24/7 operations.

The DBA will work closely with:

Day 2 Infra Engineers

Day 2 System Engineers

Day 2 Software Engineers

Security & Compliance teams

Key Responsibilities

1. 1. 24/7 Production Database Operations

   Provide L2/L3 support for MSSQL and MongoDB in Production and DR environments.

   Participate in standby/on‑call roster for critical incidents.

   Troubleshoot and resolve:

   • Database outages
   • Always On failover issues
   • Blocking / deadlocks
   • Performance bottlenecks
   • Storage / IOPS constraints

   Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.

2. 2. High Availability & Reliability Management

   Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL)

   • Manage Always On Availability Groups.
   • Monitor replication and failover health.
   • Perform database patching and cumulative updates.
   • Maintain backup and restore strategy (Full, Differential, Log backups).
   • Conduct periodic DR drills and restoration validation.
   • Optimize indexing strategies and execution plans.

   MongoDB

   • Manage Replica Sets and automatic failover.
   • Monitor memory, disk, and index performance.
   • Manage backup/restore and periodic recovery validation.
   • Maintain cluster health and sharding (if applicable).
3. 3. Performance & Capacity Management

   Conduct proactive health checks.

   Analyze:

   • Query execution plans (MSSQL)
   • Slow queries and indexing (MongoDB)

   Perform database tuning and optimization.

   Forecast capacity growth and scaling requirements.

4. 4. Change & Release Support

   Review database s prior to production deployment.

   Support data migration and release windows.

   Validate database stability post-deployment.

   Ensure proper rollback and recovery procedures are in place.

5. 5. Security & Compliance (Government Environment)

   Implement database security hardening.

   Manage:

   • Role-based access control
   • Auditing and logging
   • Support vulnerability assessment (VA) remediation.

   Ensure compliance with government security policies.

   Maintain proper documentation and SOPs for audit readiness.

Technical Requirements

Mandatory

• 5–8+ years of DBA experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience in:
• Microsoft SQL Server (Always On, HA, Performance Tuning)
• MongoDB (Replica Sets, Backup/Restore)
• Experience supporting 24/7 mission‑critical systems.
• Experience handling Severity 1 production incidents.
• Experience in supporting application deployment (data patching, data seed etc.)
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Preferred

• Experience in Singapore Government projects.

Familiarity with:

• Virtualized or containerised environments
• Microservices architecture
• Integration‑heavy systems (Kafka, REST APIs, ETL)
• Experience in structured ITIL‑based incident management environments.

Soft Skills

• Calm and decisive during major incidents.
• Strong communication skills during incident bridge calls.
• Proactive in identifying operational risks.
• Comfortable working in audit‑heavy and compliance‑driven environments.

Security Requirement

Must be eligible for Government security clearance.
