Job summary

SJ Group (Surbana Jurong) is seeking a Contracts Associate in Singapore. The role focuses on procurement strategy, contract administration, and dispute resolution within the construction and infrastructure sector.

Candidates should hold a recognised degree in Legal and/or Quantity Surveying, with long-standing QS consulting experience in infrastructural projects, and strong skills in negotiation, writing, and analytical thinking. Willingness to travel overseas is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Recognised degree in Legal and/or Quantity Surveying.
• Preferably 10+ years of experience in QS consulting (infrastructure, container ports, marine terminals, or coastal development).
• Strong understanding of Public Sector Standard Conditions of Contract and various contract types.
• Strong writing, communication, negotiation, and mediation skills.
• Willingness to travel overseas for project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Formulate procurement strategy and advise on contract forms.
• Prepare tender documentation, particularly contractual provisions, and manage pre-qualification and tender evaluation.
• Provide contractual advice to project teams, draft correspondences, and review variation, extension of time, and loss & expense claims.
• Maintain project contractual risk registers.
• Support claim negotiations, manage contractual changes, and resolve disputes with contractors.
• Monitor legal developments in the construction industry and provide regular updates to project teams.
